Craig Gordon

I can't remember the circumstances around him leaving but yeah obviously he'd improve us now and he's a good keeper. I can name many better but he'd more than do for us.

He was out for 2 years after he left us, keeping hold of him would have been completely demented. It was right to let him go. Glad he's got his career back on track though, even though he is injured <laugh>
Hey up lad, hope I ain't upset you lately , just been pantomime villain to keep a bit frisk while quiet on here. Coleman , give him a bit longer as you say . KTF x

I was genuinely excited when we signed him. Such a shame how everything worked out. Glad he managed to get his career back on track though

Be careful what you wish for ! Injuries permitting ,and he got fit can you name a better keeper ? Should we have kept him ?

He would get into our current team, even with an injury !!

Joking aside, another ‘big’ signing who left for nowt <doh>

Should we have kept him.... Not at the time
Would I like him back now.... If fit, absolutely

He left us and worked in the Scottish football media for 2 years. I think he was open minded as to whether he would get back in to playing or not.

He was a great keeper who was there to be shot at because of the price tag. He had a poor defence in front of him (McShane, Halford etc), but I think he did well for us

Most expensive goalkeeper ever, never liked him, let in far too many soft goals. Stoke City away, never forget it.

I was never a fan of Gordon. He was a decent shot stopper and had good reflexes ( as shown in Marcus' video clip) but when he had time to think, he was no better than what we have now. I'll never forget a match at the SoL against Manchester city; we were putting them under a bit of pressure when they broke out with a long ball to Sean Wright Phillips. Gordon came running out to meet him, fell over his own feet and landed on his a**e. Phillips going past with an open goal in front of him, stumbled himself and completely mis-kicked. The ball trickled at a snails pace towards the goal and Gordon just sat and watched, making no attempt to get up and try to save it. If he'd got up, he could have walked back quick enough to save it. Watching him play for Celtic a while back, he still dithers and doesn't know what to do when he has time to think.

Thing is - all keepers make mistakes - if you use the "I remember this one" scenario then no-one would want David De Gea after our semi final game at Old Trafford as he could've thrown his cap on Bardsley's shot and it was straight at him!

I thought Gordon was an excellent all round keeper personally - good with crosses, great shot stopper and good decision making - he fell over in the one you talk about (I can't remember it tbh and can't find it on the internet anywhere!) which could happen to any player - that doesn't make him a bad keeper

My guess is you mean this one - I thought I was sometimes too critical of keepers but christ this was impossible for any keeper to save - particularly as the defender running back towards the goal couldn't catch it either and he had a 5 yard head start on Gordon!!

Weve been blessed with decent keepers in my era, Sorenson, Tony Norman, Poom, Mingolet, Gordon, Pickford etc.
Its a shame that they're all shyte now.
