Just watched motd2 (god knows why I put myself through that again) and at the end they had a highlights reel of current free agents.

I can't believe Craig Gordon hasn't been signed by anyone. Kelvin has been amazing for us and I'm certainly not ruling him out like some fans but I do feel Gordon would be great signing for us.

What are your thoughts?
 
Certainly an option in Jan if we feel we need him then. For now, I'm more than happy with Kelv.
 
Yeah it's worth thinking about. Fitness is an issue considering the wages he'll demand, I assume that's why Sunderland let him go (as well as having several other very capable keepers)

Hargreaves, Owen and Gordon are the biggest names, but I would put huge question marks on fitness and wages. Frankly Owen should have accepted Stoke and been happy about it.
 
Perhaps Reading or Liverpool may consider him. Davis hasade a few bad decisions but has made some good saves & his experience & calmness is invaluable.
 
I haven't followed his career, although I'm aware that he became the costliest goalkeeper in the PL at one point, and you don't do that by being hopeless. However, you don't become a free agent without reason either.
 
I'm surprised they've not all been signed on payment per appearance deals like Hargreaves was with City...
 
Craig Gordon....first of all we over paid for him big time. Paid 9m, when 3/4m would have been about right.
Secondly...only played about 90 games for us due to injuries. To be fair Defoe broke his arm with (on purpose) when he had just got back to fitness and was looking OK.
We let him go because yes he was on massive wages (I heard £50k a week) but we have the RoI and Belgium national keepers. (Both better imho....but a lot of SAFC fans disagree and rate CG high)
For a free transfer got to be worth a punt if you really need a keeper. Good shot stopper but not very commanding. Never says a word to his defenders and always looks (face wise)
very nervous.
Would I rather have KD or CG in my team. Would be CG.
Something clearly not right that he is still a free agent.
