Yeah Grella's a bit of a dick, but he did seem a decent player whenever he played. If SG just explained to him he was wrong, then he'd be good for the subs bench atleast whilst we only have 2 fit strikers. We're paying his wages.
I think Paynter is going to be moved on ASAP. I still see the need for another striker for a season while Somma is out, because we've seen what happens when you continue to get unlucky. If Ross had been called up to the Scotland squad we wouldn't have had a single striker against Bradford!
I think it would be a short term thing, but must admit when I looked at his goalscoring record I thought he was a ****ing defender!
With his limited budget, instead of getting in another striker & wasting wages Grayson's being a bit stubborn in not using Grella,at least till Becchio/Somma are back. Would at least make a useful impact sub. Otherwise even if he's on only £5k a week that's still £500,000 till his contract runs out in 2013. He's too good to just rot in the under 18's-stick him on the bench.
We don't need another one, why waste money on wages when other positions require looking at... If Grayson wishes to continue with 4-4-2 and he wants to change it around we now have Gradel, Howson, Clayton, Brown, Nunez, Snodgrass, Sam in a midfield of 4... He can easily play Gradel or Nunez alongside one of the strikers and bring 1 or 2 of the unused midfielders off the bench.
I thought Grella's contract was up at the end of this season? Anyway, with McCormack, Keogh, Grella and then Gradel, Nunez who can play there or Howson as a second striker, we really aren't short on strikers. Especially anything longterm.
People should stop mentioning Grella, he'll never play for us again and he did that for himself a long time ago. The only reason he isn't gone is because nobody bloody wants him.
