I won't go through but I assume these all peer reviewed studies? Can't read any of those, think you must be signed up to it.
I have read a peer reviewed study though that suggested there was very limited benefit if any. I assume there are other counter studies that say the same thing. I suppose it all depends which scientist you choose to believe. It also depends how you interpret each study, again a subjective thing as borne out by the Danish study into mask use.
Seems to be common theme throughout this 'pandemic'
Maybe less condescending is a good way to go. But again this is what we have with this situ. I know I'm right about this so **** off all other opinions.
Yes, they're all peer reviewed studies - you should be able to see the abstracts at least I think? But yeah I was logged in - I'm a researcher by profession, although this isn't my field to be fair. I just put in the keywords 'viral load' and 'mask' (nothing to bias the search - so it would have pulled up negative results if they had been published) and quoted a bunch of abstracts from the most recent studies. The last study is from a different publisher so you may have access - and it's a literature review, so it covers a fair bit of the evidence available and seems pretty conclusive. It's a letter to the editor - so hasn't been reviewed itself - but quotes peer reviewed studies.

In fairness, I was sceptical of mask use at first. Assumed the rebound effect would be bigger than the benefit. But the people I actually trust on this - doctors and scientists - quickly came to the opposite conclusion, so I changed my mind. And I appreciate your frustration with the Facebook experts. But this isn't Facebook, and I don't claim to be an expert - I just listen to people who are.
Sorry if I slapped you down a bit hard, but my wife is a doctor in a full ITU, treating people with covid, including previously fit and healthy people under 50 (many of whom quote the same stuff you were, right up to the point she intubates them), so I get a bit narked by it.

modes Pouchie find it warm in your back pocket mate?
I listen to medical professionals too. These internet professors with chocolate phd’s know as much as Jon Snow.

You're a mackem. Its the one opinion which actually doesn't count. Its a good job seen as you appear to think anyone who doesn't follow the narrative has a chocolate PHD. Time for Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford etc to undertake a review then of their Cadburys courses I assume?![]()
Mate no issue at all, but I'm finding this a lot with all the emotion involved. I don't think its the best way to go for everyone is all. I'll point it out but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it - its pretty commonplace and I think there has to be an understanding of that, particularly with people who are touched by it or seeing it first hand. If we aren't going to maintain social norms though, it'll end up a pretty divided world.
I can't even see the extracts. I can't see if they are general studies into respiratory illnesses or specifically to do with COVID 19. I did see the Danish study specifically into COVID 19, the largest of its kind I believe, and I looked at that. Its been interpreted many different ways by scientists, as is normal and I accept part of the issue - people talk about follow the scientists but they rarely all agree!. It did seem to suggest that masks are at best not very effective at all. I didn't like the struggle those guys had to get it published. I know there are others spreading the other stuff at present, relating to the masks actually being harmful. Just to be clear whereas I have various beliefs about the way this pandemic is being handled, and certainly abused by those in power, I don't think this virus is not real and I do follow the rules, including wearing a mask where required to. I just think its ok to openly debate, listen to all angles including scientists who don't follow the narrative, and generally be a bit more open about the whole thing.
People go on about infringements on freedoms but that's not my main concern, even if I do think every single person on the planet has a responsibility to ensure freedoms are maintained for all. My main concern is that we are miserably failing to deal with this situation very well, and it would be sensible to start listening instead of ploughing on. It reminds of a war general saying "and on into battle lads", only to see them all gunned down because he couldn't swallow his pride.
On the subject of the studies though, I'll certainly see if I can get a look at them. Always willing to listen to the other perspectives![]()
