So testing and having to wait for you results, here's a story from the wild East. To travel into a neighbouring country you need to have a negative test result not older than 72 hours, wanting to travel at the weekend the person in question turns up at the test center on the Thursday morning with a letter from the bank to confirm the payment has been made ( no they can't see if the money has been paid and no you can't show your online bank statement) After an hour or two waiting outside you're invited in and the sample is taken all well and good until they say you can come and collect the result Monday morning. Rearrange your travel plans to suit and wait till Monday. It's heaving down with rain and you are standing outside the test center, after 3 hours a nursey type comes out and says that due to the weather the internet has gone down and there will be no results given today come back tomorrow. Next day after only 2 hours waiting your name is called and you eagerly step forward to finally get your result, yippie it's negative and you happily hop skip and jump back to your car planning to rush home pack a bag and get on your merry way, then you realise it's stamped signed and dated last Thursday.
That chart wasn't supposed to be published just yet.....Obviously a leek!!! Edit....missed previous post on said subject,I won't let this dragon...
The government has shelved plans to open rapid-turnaround coronavirus test centres across England over Christmas amid concerns from public health experts about the accuracy of their results. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...w-tests-in-england-halted-over-accuracy-fears
And at the same time suggesting that the solution for the holdup of trucks at Dover is mass testing and rapid turnaround times.
Damn, beaten to the punch. Anyway, glad the EU have lifted restrictions as I was starting to feel like the UK had been waldorf.
I'm glad to see a few Westminster heads being removed from the sand - a very predictable, expensive and potentially damaging waste of our money.
Loophole that means Boris can spend Christmas with family in Tier 4 Many other people could also take advantage of the exception https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/loophole-means-boris-can-spend-4822484 The rules around Christmas have been changed at the last minute in the face of spreading coronavirus infections across the UK. People across the country were going to be able to spend up to five days with people from up the three households - but that was scrapped at the weekend. Now across most of the country you can only mix two households, and that will only be on Christmas Day. In Tier 4 - across London and the South East - even that is not allowed with no household mixing at any time. But there is a loophole that will allow Boris Johnson to meet with family, despite the fact he will be at Downing Street in London, in the heart of Tier 4, reports the Financial Times. The rule, which came into force on December 2 and was updated on December 14, means that Boris and his fiancee Carrie Symonds can meet up with people from one other household over Christmas. According to the FT, the rule applies to 750,000 households across the UK. The exception comes because Boris and Carrie have a child aged under one. That means they can form a support bubble - even in Tier 4 - and can then meet up with another household - of any size - whenever they want. The Government has made it clear people should not be travelling or meeting up where it isn't necessary - especially in Tier 4 - and travelling out of Tier 4 should be avoided. But the rules are still in place, and still allow families like Boris's to spend Christmas together, says the FT. Jemima Kelly, writing in the FT, said: "Downing Street told us the prime minister would remain at Downing Street on Christmas Day, but declined to comment on whether he and Ms Symonds would be joined by members of a support bubble, or indeed whether they had made use of the linked household exemption that applies to them since it came into law on December 2nd. "Downing Street also declined to comment on where the prime minister and his fiancée would be spending the days after Christmas, saying such details are not usually disclosed about the prime minister." The Tier 4 rules state: "You cannot meet other people indoors, including over the Christmas and New Year period, unless you live with them, or they are part of your support bubble." The support bubble rules state: "You can form a support bubble with another household of any size if...your household includes a child who is under the age of one or was under that age on 2 December 2020." The bubble rules also allow you to meet up with one other household if you live by yourself, you are the only adult in your household who does not need continuous care as a result of a disability, your household includes a child with a disability who requires continuous care and is under the age of 5, you are aged 16 or 17 living with others of the same age and without any adults or you are a single adult living with one or more children who are under the age of 18 or were under that age on 12 June 2020.
Yep i spent that long cutting and pasting yes very 'inflammatory headline' - not a loophole just the law & actually a useful bit for new parents generally an especially if feeling isolated [ no play groups / parent meet ups etc]
We've slid two places further down the table from 147 to 40. East Riding are on the next page, with around 154. They've changed the layout of the site, which I think now separates areas by Tiers, so it may change again very soon, but the positive is that we're still increasing at a slower rate than other areas. please log in to view this image
“It is a ****storm,” an EU diplomat said. “All European governments are being kicked for not doing enough. The curve is rising anyway, it is not going well. There is a lot of trouble because the UK is vaccinating and we are not. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/a-warning-a-cabinet-meeting-and-a-descent-into-chaos-kqwwwv03q
I think they’re tweeting both versions now. Here’s the older version we’ve been posting so far. Dropped another 7 places.
