are you seriously saying Elvis's version was better than Willie Mae Thornton's for a start it's a woman's song about her no good lazy layabout husband Elvis merely 'popped it up for the masses Buddy Guy on the strat anarl you ain't never caught a rabbit ffs isn't even in the original lyrics
My brother was a fan of the band and I remember grabbing this single from him. It was a decade before I found out it was a cover. Leonard Cohen is a very coverable singer! Jeff Buckley anyone?
Good info, but as for being a womans song, is that a problem, if so, at least three others on this thread are likewise cross overs, but so what, also Elvis had to use substitute lyrics to be allowed on the air waves in those days, and yes I believe his version is the best of all the covers recorded of this particular ditty, that's my opinion, the fact that it's not your's is fine. I like Buddy Guy as well bye the way, some band he was in when he teamed up with Muddy Waters and Junior Wells.
In popular music, a cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a previously recorded, commercially released song by someone other than the original artist or composer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_version
The future heads is turd compared to the bush And speaking of Glenn Campbell his version of good riddance by green day is pretty good. Mebes not better but special in its own way
I know where you're coming from but I'd have to disagree. Dylan has at least half a dozen different voices depending on the song and the mood he's in. I saw him in Cannes just a few years ago and he was in good form, he sang 'You're a big girl now' and it was awesome. But, I have to say, there are times when his live performances are only great because it's him standing there.
I thought this song was shyte until I heard this version, didn't like the Audrey Hepburn effort at all tbh ....
Having just listened to both, I've concluded that Audrey Hepburn's version is better than Morrisey's, which is dreadful This version (Andy Williams) is much better . . . . https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...BMAR6BAgEEAo&usg=AOvVaw3RyYXMAQr6ek09i5Rt8eQ_ I can't post the video from my 'phone . . . . just the link, but it works
Headgirl - Please Don't Touch. Johnny Kidd & The Pirates - Please Don't Touch. Nothing wrong with original, imho, but I think the instrumental work is far better in the copy. Another version worth a shout has to be:-
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=playing for change sitting on the dock of the bay. I'm not good at uploading as you can probably tell. This is also not the type of music I usually like, but this is fairly decent.
