I agree with you. In fairness, both have looked pretty steady at DM so far so there is a lot to be excited about in that respect. If Coq playing RB mean Frimpong got more games at DM (although I think Song is a fantastic player) I wouldnt be against that.
Both have a lot to learn about the DM role (especially Frimpong) and in an ideal world you'd be gradually introducing them to the league as opposed to dropping them in it and expecting them to hit the ground running. Song also has a few quirks that need beating out of him when he's there but he's the best of them. To be honest, if you can get any of the three willing to just sit there patiently week in, week out covering the back four and not crossing the halfway line I think we'd do sooo much better. Any good probably do a decent job as RB too but it's a stop gap and nothing more.
Ideally one of them would just sit as you said. Coq seemed happy to sit deeper against Spurs but went wandering a few times, and as you said about Song he has a few things still to work on as he definitely loves to go on a wander during games. With one of them just sitting infront of the back 4 and cleaning up any mess one of our CB's inevitably conjure up, we would be a lot stronger defensively. Sagna-Kos/Per-Verm-Santos/Gibbs with Song just infront should be a good defence on paper but the amount of gaps the opposition manage to find is shocking
I agree with this. Especially if Jenks get's injured / performs badly. Or even rotate. For the crap teams play Jenks and for the stronger teams, Kos.
