Good point in the end, but at a cost, 3 key players injured, lets hope not too seriously this time, and one suspended just ahead of a crucial home game, is a worry. We were the better team imo., but those injuries and Catts walking a tightrope second half cost us two points to-day, a real shame, as two of the handicaps were avoidable. The bench as a result, was reduced to a supporting role instead of proving the difference between the two sides, as it should have been doing, but this is football and its a long season, and we are well placed, even though only one victory in the last five does not look good on paper. I thought Maja and Honeyman were a bit below par today, but both are vital cogs in a very exciting team, when we play on the deck we look a class above this division, but to be fair Coventry also boast a few very good players in their squad and gave us a real testing game today and a draw was a fair result in the end. Catts man of the match too, and well deserved, but the goalkeeper ran him a close second, we would still be in the Championship if he had joined a year earlier.
If you are referring to the goal in particular, the ball suddenly slows to a halt as it is played forward and this gives the attacker an advantage over the defender who looked favourite to win it at first, if you watch a replay you can see its the water on the pitch that caused this problem, however the rash dive in during extra time was a clanger and could have cost us dearly if that too was Flanagan. Apart from those two incidents I thought Flanagan was average, nothing more, but he did make some good contributions, and that is better than some others have managed to date.
Great post! I agree that it was a good point. Lots of games thick and fast but its the same for everyone. I think we have the strongest squad in the league and hopefully in January we can add. Tuesday night is a big game more so on making a statement to the rest of the league. We are still trying to gel players and get some up to speed fitness wise but I think we will have enough in the tank to get three points on Tuesday. Should be a big turn out for this one....haway the lads!!
Likewise mate and I share your optimism about the squad, especially the young ones coming through, this is the first season I have enjoyed for years and part of me wishes all football was like this league, I know it is looked down upon by some, but its a joy to watch, so enjoy it while we can, onwards and upwards.
Sad isn’t it. I’m enjoying this season more than any (except the cup final season) since Reid was here!!
Great post Clock!!! The BBC said something along the lines of the game being a great advertisement for L1 football. Couldn't watch it fully though as I'm so hooked into the Ryder Cup and the pub landlord insisted on showing the West Ham / Man U game on the other tv. Was reduced to watching it on my phone alongside the golf. Ryder Cup on one tv, Sunderland on another screen and a guinness in my hand all afternoon with my mates. Life doesn't get any better! What a great day its been!!
If we'd have been able to chamge the front 3 ie bringing Mcgeady and Sinclair on aswell as Power i think the fresh legs, energy and skill level would have killed them off. Unfortunately 2 of our subs were wasted in defence. Im abit worried Pompey and Peterborough are consistently winning. I said back in August that would be the key to promotion
They weren't wasted mate they were forced. Hope all three of the injured lads are back soon. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
Yes, shame we couldn't bring on more fire power but hey let's keep them for Tuesday night. I don't know whether I'm biased but I think by the end of April Pompey and Peterborough will be more worried about us than we will be about them....bring on Tuesday!!!
A large group of maybe 200 lads intent on bother. They were old Skool (over 40) and started lobbing bricks at coaches. Obviously when confronted by irate fans it got a bit ugly. Police were poor and did nowt as barriers were launched into groups of fans I liked the set up at the Ricoh, the bars under the stand were good and the fact they had an outside beer garden at half time for fans to have a *** & a pint went down well! Seemed bizarre meeting up with Bri in a casino before the game?!? Good to see you again marra @brianstorm
Was Boro @ home I think? I’m doing okay marra, home most weekends so getting to plenty of games (Home&Away) We’ll have to catch up soon
