The basis of their optimism seems to be that 'Super Frankie Lampard's Derby', won the 2nd leg at Leeds after being behind.

IIRC the Leeds keeper did 'a Meslier', then Derby got a penalty and only won after Leeds went down to ten men.

I doubt many people would bet on their back line coping with our strikers tbh ...

... the Coventry defenders will probably have a few quid on Mayenda <laugh>

Thinking they can beat us is one thing ...

... thinking they will beat us isn't quite the same.

May have already been discussed as well but yet another big round of applause to our set piece coach. Couple of free kicks the other night surprised me and I would imagine most other people.

I agree, it's great to see some inventiveness after all these years.

Our free kicks are becoming like the knickers of any woman who spends time with me ...

... bound to come off eventually.

Just don't mention my dead balls <whistle>

I dunno, I was getting called negative the other day for thinking we might lose. So by that account those criticising must think we think we will win so why shouldn’t fans of other clubs.

Thinking we might lose is normal ...

... thinking we will lose isn't quite the same thing imo.

'Smug' got plenty of tickets, for other people, but had to work so couldn't go ...

    ... at least I didn't pretend to go when I didn't.

how do you get so many tickets btw? Do you know people in the ticket office or is it just mates of mates etc ? I’ve always wondered as you seem to be able to get them at really late notice as well. Makes me wonder how many tickets go unused!!!

As you've asked I'll tell you mate, buckle in <laugh>

I've been travelling the country, as an exile, for over fifty years so I know hundreds of people the length and breadth.

I ran a coach from Mansfield, for years, home and away in the 70's and 80's and set up a branch.

I was also picked up at Trowell Services by all kinds of branches and unofficial branches like Frank Wheatley's battle bus, the Beehive, Seaburn, etc.

I'm in touch with various branches and have a couple of contacts in the club plus contact with two ex-players, one recent and one ancient. Sometimes the ticket office will contact me, late on, if they've been given a last minute allocation by the home club and aren't able to sell them at such short notice. They'll arrange duplicates to be available at their ticket office or send me e-tickets. I don't have to pay for them if I can't get rid. All I ever want is for as many Sunderland people, as possible, to be in the ground cheering on the lads.

I have a friend who's mates with RLB's wife and knows him through her. I have friends who'll let me have their spare SCs, usually for free, if they're not being used and pass them on to people.

So, in a nutshell, I've loads of people who know I'll always help them with tickets, info and a place to stay if they need one. Because I'm 100% genuine, and never make a penny off tickets, people trust me to sort them out whether I'm helping them to find a ticket or get rid of one. For the Wycombe final I had loads of people meeting up on the strength of my word, some from as far away as Austria, Malaga, France and Belgium.

If I promise someone a ticket they get one even if, after being let down, I let them have mine and scam my way in ...

... or pay for a ticket that the person I've sorted it for doesn't show up.

I know I mention this quite often, perhaps too often for some people, but it confirms my credibility so people know they can trust me if I say I'll take a ticket or sell them one. I had a lad, total stranger, travel to Coventry and collect his ticket outside the away turnstile ...

... that's a long trip just on my word.

I help people with train problems, arrange discounts and refunds if there's been delays or whatever. It's second nature to me because I've been helped by brilliant people over the years. Sorry for the 'War and Peace' but it'll save me typing it all out again when I'm asked in the future <cheers>

I'm just one little link in a wonderful Red & White chain, we have great support despite what the odd few think.

Loved tbe corner which went backwards, then to the far side, with ELF picking up Hume who had taken it in the first place only to drift inside. Brilliant.

My lass had been asking me ‘what’s wrong’ all day. Tried explaining several times and she cannot get her head around it. She’ll learn eventually.
