We're a completely different proposition without Smith. He was another Roeder - stifling and toxic

WTF has happened to Dowell under Wagner!? Totally re-energised! Like a new signing! Hopefully, he can keep this up and get a sustained run of form going!

Once we went 4-2 up, much better game management than in the first half at 3-0 up.

Far from a perfect performance, but just enjoying the entertainment at the moment. So nice to looking forward again to match day.

Personally, I would have chosen Sara, but I agree Sargent had a very good game.

Yeah I’d actually agree with that he was so energetic and used the ball well

Agree with all this. It’s a totally different spirit.

Sargent was my motm too, though Sara not far off. Pukki was also a huge presence. I can see why they chose Hernandez given he probably had the greatest obvious impact on the game, but for me he should have had two more goals or assists - classic him.

Interesting to hear the commentator suggest Wagner was keen to sign Dowell when managing Huddersfield - could be bollocks but equally that faith might explain Dowell’s transformation. I feel like Dowell in this role allows McLean to stay deeper by filling that forward midfield option and therefore gives us more structural solidity (although McLean had a weaker game than his stellar showing at Preston due to misplaced passes).

It was great to see us finally beat the aggressive press again (even if several times it was messed up really badly… Farke-style…)

Worst game I have seen from Omo, lack of game time affecting him perhaps. McCullum improved the left flank in second half. Krul with ball at feet is problematic. Overall so much better than S+S.

When was the last time we were spoilt for choice when deciding on the MOTM?

Yeah I was torn with Omobamidele. Where I ended up was yes he struggled and it was a poor game, but that Gyokeres (?sp) is ferocious and definitely going to be a Premier League player before long - possibly the end of the transfer window. So it was good experience for our defence.

Completely agree re McCallum. Sadly I now accept Giannoulis won’t be good enough for the PL if we go up. I like his style, but too many times now he gets bullied.

Well, according to WhoScored, Dowell just edged it with his goal and an assist, but there were 5 players competing for it and McCallum on 7 points just for his second half is very impressive as well

I kinda want to play Giannoulis and Aarons as wingers and see what happens (might need Byram fit for that experiment)

I agree that Omo hasn't looked great since his return from injury, but I think we tend to forget that he is so young and inexperienced.

As for Krul, his kicking and his ability with the ball at his feet seems to get even worse as he gets older. But I understand the arguments of people who say he is vocal and organises his defence. Swings and roundabouts, I guess.
