Dangerous game this. If we lose we'll go as low as 4th. If we win we might even manage to climb to 4th. Pressure is on.

On a more serious note I would like to beat them just so we can put Frank and his team back in their box.

I remember a game at Craven cottage after he had retired. At half time he appeared at the end of the stand, and the Sunderland fans saw him. "Jimmy Hill Jimmy Hill" they chanted. He turned and waved. "What a wa**er, what a w**ker " they said. He disappeared inside.

Regis Le Bris' exciting Milan Aleksic prediction

    upload_2025-3-15_9-37-43.jpeg

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...exciting-milan-aleksic-sunderland-prediction/

REGIS Le Bris says it's only a matter of time before things "click" for Milan Aleksic at Sunderland....

"Milan is a really young player, talented with many young skills," said Sunderland's head coach.

"I think this year is very important for him to connect with the country, culture and the club. Sometimes players need time.

"What we saw so far was this period of connection and adaptation. At some stage it will click. He's building his foundations and we'll see for the next stage."

When it comes to the importance of a settling in period, Aleksic doesn't have to look far for proof.

Last season, in his first campaign at the club, Eliezer Mayenda was a fringe figure, starting only one Championship game before a January loan switch to Hibs, where he also hardly featured.

But this season, Mayenda has established himself as a key figure in Le Bris' squad, featuring in 29 of Sunderland's 37 Championship games.

"Eli is a really good example," said Le Bris.

"I don't think we expected Eli at that level at the beginning of the season. We were searching for strikers but we had a good striker. "He needed one year to adapt, even if he didn't play much last season. He didn't play a massive amount of minutes last season but the experience was really useful for him."

I'm pleased Le Bris has taken the time to explain to people why he's not just throwing players in when it may be too early.

The easiest way to knock someone's confidence is to bow to the wishes of supporters who are expecting great things imo.

These young foreign players need to learn the language, culture, mentality and loads more.

It's not that Le Bris doesn't 'trust the player', as some think, he's just showing how careful he manages their development imo.

Coventry having dropped out of the play off places have all the pressure on them today whereas we probably know our destiny and in some respects this is a free hit for us.
Just go and do the business lads.

Agree with this and that’s from someone who’s been championing getting him on the pitch more often, we saw what happened last year when Mowbray would throw Hemir rusyn or mayenda in willy nilly then drop them again for weeks, probably killed any confidence they had much more sensible approach this year and hopefully both us and aleksic reap the rewards for it

I was at that match and remember it really well. Not something I joined in with given my age but I do remember thinking he had it coming, seemed to enjoy it.

I'd love to see him mate, but that's for my benefit.

RLB has to do what he thinks will most benefit the players, the team and ultimately himself.

It's the same with substitutions, we may have actually gained fewer points if he'd listened to me <laugh>

100% I’m glad it’s Regis in the dugout and not me, I was quoted walking out the Bristol city game saying mayenda was a dog with a balloon and will never make a footballer while I have a hole in my arse, predictions like that are why I need to stop gambling :emoticon-0102-bigsm
