Do Wasps still play there? I would imagine then if so, and then rent it out for concerts etc. Probably make more from that than whatever Coventry were paying
Usual Ashley tactics. It’s his way in to buying them at a discount. the list of grounds they’ve shared like. Footballs very own Billy Smarts. Surely they cannot be allowed to keep doing this while everyone else is stumping up to keep their club going
The stadium business makes a decent profit from the casino, hotel and conference centre. It puts him in a fantastic negotiating position to buy the club if he wants as he doesn't necessarily need anyone to play there.
Birmingham should sell the land their asbestos ridden ground sits on, rent the Ricoh and tell Coventry to FO.
I couldn't give a **** about Coventry either way. I'd be utterly ****ing devastated if this kind of thing was happening to my club though. A club, its name, its badge, its colours, its stadium, its fans and its city are one entity and a package deal in my eyes. The fa shouldn't allow owners of clubs to sell the stadium. If you want to sell the stadium then you should have to sell the club.
I’m sure Coventry wouldn’t be devastated if the shoe was on the other foot, and I wouldn’t blame them.
Coventry have spent the stadium money on players to get to the Premier League. Other clubs have done things properly. Coventry are trying to cheat .... ... they have it in their DNA. No sympathy.
This is farcical, why buy a ground but not let supporters in ? Will they play in a empty stadium, what about season card holders etc, the next game might be delayed by 30 mins though due to coach trouble lol
Assume Ashley is playing the long game to renegotiate the terms of the licence by which Scum City are allowed to play in his stadium. Ultimately he'll be trying to take control of the club when the current owners default on rent/lease agreements. IIRC the current agreement has no provision for the club failing to pay rent on time
