He needs movement ahead of him. At the moment, he's not getting much of it but Sturridge & Sterling should be offering those runs for him to pick out.

Like they say, it takes 2 people to make a pass <ok>

Coutinho was fantastic again tonight. His close control has seemingly gotten even better.

he was awesome. If he could shoot accurately and consistently he would be the complete attacking midfielder

I think when Sturridge gets back then coutinho sterling and Sturridge will cause serious problems for the opposition, cout was doing a lot of great work tonight only to have no real option or a pass that players wernt fast enough to get on to

I didn't like it when he was having a little go at Lambert (understandably of course) but i felt sorry for Rickie.

But what a player he is - I said it before, an off form Coutinho is still twice the player Markovic and Lallana are.

Get quality around Coutinho i.e. Sterling and Sturridge and we'll see the return of our attacking threat.

I dont mind that tbh, Coutinho knows he is there to provide assists and he was having a blinding game but without the right movement in front. Must be frustrating.

Agreed. Now Suarez has gone we need to tailor our attack around someone, and that's probably Coutinho. Have the runners off him - preferbly the younger SAS, and try and play the ball through Coutinho as much as possible. He's the one with the vision, and can thread a pass through the eye of a needle.

He should be our number 10. Rodgers wastes far too much of him playing him wide. As good as Sterling is in the number 10, he should be out wide cutting in when he fancies it.

Either that or BR just needs to give Coutinho a free role. So he can do his ting wherever, meaning man marking him out the game would be harder for the opposition.

Either way - he needs to be starting, people argue he's not fit enough etc. to play the 90mins. He'll soon become fit enough with enough gametime <ok>

    That's his main problem <ok>

One minute he'll let off an absolute ripper, then he'll piss about with ****ty little pot shots. If he starts to hit the target with power, he could become an unbelievable midfielder.

Oh yeah I agree - just felt sorry for poor Rickie <ok>

I disagree - Sterling's best position is as the number 10 and I think he's wasted out wide (even though he's still good there). Sterling's ability to drive at defences with pace, and use his strength when surrounded. His movement is top notch as well.

Also, I would prefer Coutinho in the deeper position - as the CM (or as a number 8) alongside Henderson. From that position, he can pick the ball up from deep in lots of space and work the ball forward.

Either way - Coutinho should be starting! I'll be very disappointed if he's dropped for Lallana again.

To be honest it's a difficult one for me, as I've previously said Sterling should be our number 10. I've even said he should play as a false 9 while Sturridge is out!
I do see your point about Coutinho playing deeper, it's a tough call to be honest. I seem to be changing my view's as the season is moving on!!

I'm guessing Rodgers is having the same problem as us lot <laugh>

  15. Sterling's best position is number ten but so is Coutinho's. However, we need to establish what is best for the team and not the individual.

I like Coutinho playing in the deeper role but I'm not keen on Sterling playing out wide, maybe upfront instead? that would give us an attacking trio of SAS & Ford.

Well, the good thing is we have two versatile players who can win matches.

Coutinho has to play centrally - either as a number 8 or 10 to get the best out of him. Sterling is brilliant on the wing and centrally.

Our best team would be Coutinho number 10, behind sterling and sturridge upfront. They all compliment each other.
