i wasn't praising him! he's one of the reasons we looked such a shambles at the back. but he did make a few decent saves and was a tad unlucky with hernandez's 2nd goal while every outfield player was sloppy, casual and poor. i know you like him but he is miles behind ruddy. he's fine as back up but if anything happens to ruddy i'd be very fearful. i think the fact we stayed up last season with him in goal for most of the season shows how good an achievement staying up was.
Was Ruddy just rested supers? I can't understand why you'd go to old Trafford without your number one keeper. Watched part of the Arsenal v Chelsea game, it was a shame it wasn't two best XIs competing.
i don't know. we have to assume he was rested. i'd have picked him myself but having seen two important players taken off injured, one very seriously, and ryan bennett limp gingerly off the pitch at full time, sods law would suggest he'd probably have got injured too! the whole game was a complete disaster for us.
It's fashionable to put put out a 2nd XI in the League Cup, where have you been for the last 10 years
Chelsea played Shcwarzer too. Bunn got us to that round so we need to let him play, remember the fuss when Mancini played Hart over Pantilimon in the FA cup final?
Schwarzer's a top keeper and I guess they did that to keep him happy. But keepers don't really get tired the same way outfield players do so at Old Trafford you'd think you'd try to win the game for a morale boost. If he's been playing in the earlier rounds I guess that makes more sense but still not how I'd want to approach it with a top keeper like Ruddy in my squad. Get a result at Old Trafford and you've got a bit of pride back and with the teams already out you've got a chance of some silverware. The other game could've been a real spectacle with the Ozils and Hazards on the pitch, that's all I meant really.
I really don't fancy starting Josh Murphy against Man City. Pilks on the left and... erm... someone on the right...
I did consider Olsson on the left and Pilks on the right, but I wouldn't be averse to giving Whittaker a go on the right.
When he scored his spectacular goals v Swansea (?) last season and Everton on the first day, he was behaving like a fairly accomplished right winger
I was thinking Olsson pushed up on the left and bring Garrido in! He used to play for Citeh, let someone else suffer at the hands of an old boy for a change!
that would mean garrido comes in - he was torn to pieces last night, looked hopeless. he isn't hopeless, but he is bang out of form
Wash your mouth out!, Garrido sucks at the moment, although I think it's more to do with him being a crap player than out of form. I know lot's of people on here rate him, but I just don't see it myself.
Rusty at RB and Whittaker RM works for me. Don't let Garry play on Saturday, Citeh will tear him to shreds so let's keep Olsson in at LB please.
i'd go mental and pick this: ruddy whittaker turner bennett (i know, no bassong) olsson fer johnson howson hooper van wolfswinkel pilkington we'd lose heavily but at least we'd be first on motd
