i know its only a question and a game etc but I do hope that this would never happen to you guys. I joke about 1982 a lot but that is just banter of course and im glad your still around. Think Bristol needs both sides
I feel exactly the same. My time watching both teams alternate weeks was in the 1950's. Then very few went to away matches unless it was very near, Swindon or Cardiff, and as I went to school on Saturday mornings (to make up for two afternoons of sport in the week) going away would not have been practical - no motorways, Dad did not have a car and trains nowhere near as fast. When I left school I did start going to more City away games but also often went to Eastville. Later in life I lived in Shrewsbury for 12 years, saw 99% of City home and lots of away games. But also watched Shrews, Villa, Stoke and Wolves and Telford United in the Conference. On season I racked up 56 live games! Then in the 90's lived near Edinburgh for two years and came down for all home games and away games up north. Also watched Hearts, Livingston, Motherwell and Dunfermline fairly often. If I came back to live in/near Bristol, I would do what I did before I left - season tickets at City, Bristol Rugby and Glos cricket. If City did not exist, maybe go and watch local football or go to West Brom or Villa as tickets not too hard to get for them. The same as Tampa I am a Bristol City supporter firstly, but am proud of my Bristol heritage so want all local teams to do well. And as the son of a Welshman, it wouldn't be far to Cardiff to see the boys in red - rugby not the Franchise FC!
Listen you oldies who alternated in the 50's. Age is no excuse, its not 1950 now. AND For the hard of hearing -- NO EXCUSES!! NO ROVERS, EVER...
