Then you will like Shane Ferguson at Newcastle. He is a left back/left wing back/left midfielder. Probably similar abilities to Seamus Coleman

Oh no Nigel Worthington was ringing and ringing him and others in the Northern Ireland set up. He never answered his phone or returned calls or texts. Seemed he wanted to opt for the south. Worthington gave a press conference about it. Shane should have just answered the phone and told him he wanted to play for the south because the south wouldn't call him up unless he went public and now he's stuck with the north.

Well he is from the north isn't he? I know he has had 1 cap for them vs Italy

He would actually get in my Newcastle starting 11 at left back lol

Yes but everyone born in Northern Ireland is entitled to Irish citizenship as of the good friday agreement which means any player born anywhere in Ireland, north or south, can play for the Republic. They have lost a few players. Darron Gibson for one. Many others.

Yeah it sad really. Republic are made up of a lot of English players too aren't they. Kilbane has over 100 caps and he is England (well English accent)

There is only a couple of English players now. Rules are rules. It isn't sad about the players being able to have Irish citizenship either. It was hard fought for and hard won <ok>

Back to the OP, could County Durham?

There was an article on the BBC website that said County Durham produced the most Premier League footballers.

I'm from the north but I'm Irish. It would confuse Einstein <laugh>

He is a cracking player though, you think he will get a regular start this season? About half way through last season every Geordie I talked to was raving about him.

He probably won't play as much as I and others would like. Everyone seems to think he will play better left midfield but everytime he has played he has played at left back and done well

I would play him left back as he is the only real option apart from Santon who is right footed - so I would play Santon - Taylor - Coloccini - Ferguson to see how it goes

But to answer your question - probably won't play much no :(

I saw it on Sky Sports News a while back about that. Totally forgot haha

Can only really think of Adam Johnson, Steve Harper (I think he classes as Durham) and Steve Howard that comes to mind
