Cory Evans is and continues to be an excellent signing in my opinion. When he plays he has an understated leadership style which I think allows the best to come from our young players. I would also bet he sets standards away from matchday that again brings on our young players, and maybe some of the older ones. I like to think our recruitment team deliberately wanted an experienced international with a great attitude to be on board to help guide the young lads they knew they were signing and to help the young lads who are coming into the first team from the academy, whether that be training days or matchdays.
When he plays, that's the rub and reading the comments from the fans of his previous club does not inspire confidence, and as has been discussed on another thread, maybe Leady could have performed a similar role playing alongside the younger players in the U23,s . So far the two experienced players brought in recently have not exactly matched that of the younger recruits, it is still very early days and we will only know at the end of the season how wise the additions of Evans and Pritchard turn out to be, but as with all players home grown or imported, it is I agree, unwise to jump to any conclusions.
