Yes, I agree. Prices rose dramatically when I bought a house in the early 70s....was tough, but not like now. Prewar very few people owned houses, but renting was possible. Home ownership pushed house prices up, so renting also became expensive. Decent rentals is an area that needs improving.

I did quite well, but then bought the wrong house which hit me financially. I am now in a house almost identical to the first house I ever bought. Prices don't always go up...buy carefully.

I'm pissed off because I was refused alcohol in Sainsbury's. No id. Daft old woman. See many under 18s with pattern baldness, a sleeve of tattoos and two children? Some people are just out to annoy me.

It's now check if they look under 25...even though the required age is 18. Once she had queried it she had to refuse without id....she is personally responsible, not the shop. I work in a shop and I wouldn't have wanted a 2K fine.

Having finished all 5 seasons of The Wire (loved it) and hence developed a healthy respect for the underlying menace of Idris Elba, I've moved on to Luther and found it utterly, utterly average so far.......

    Should I persist?

I completely appreciate that having worked in a shop myself, but I don't even look under 30.

Yeah I wouldn't bother, it gets pretty tiresome.

Maybe check out The Shield. It's like The Wire but more action, less talk. At the moment I'm watching Boardwalk Empire (Prohibition era gangsters, starring Steve Buscemi) and Deadwood (western series starring Ian McShane/ Lovejoy). Both are very good.

I got ID'd for paracetamol in Sainsburys which you have to be 16 to buy. She even saw me park my car outside the shop.

They have no choice. She could have been sacked if she didn't ID you.

Don't knock it. In years to come you'll be asking them to do it. :)

No one will get sacked for selling to someone of legal age. Even if they don't id. My friend got ided in co op for booze by same person two days in a row. After the firsr day she already knows he's legal!

The rules for id are very simple. You have to ask if they look under 25 to buy alcohol...once you have asked, you have to refuse without id. If the shop got into trouble because of your actions, you would be sacked by a large concern. If they look over 25 in your opinion and you didn't ask...you would not be in trouble if your actions were reasonable even if they were under 18. If brought to court, you just keep saying they looked over 25 to you (you are not expected to be clairvoyant)....admit to not a scintilla of doubt or they will have you.

Have to say that I never leave the house without id...my driving licence.

The only thing I ever thanked Mrs Thatcher for, was the right to buy my Council House, I type this inches away from the spot where I was born in 1947, it's my home now, it always has been, I haven't the slightest idea how much it's worth, never going to sell it!

I have never been asked for id, not even when I was underage.

I got ID'd for a 15 DVD and I'm 22. I'm not insulted as I know the rules are if you look under 25 you get ID'd.

Sadly I have never been asked to prove I am over 60 when asking for a reduction :(
