Will be going down even though I'm on crutches. Markus saved our club, so going through a little pain to see us face some top teams in his memory is no fuss at all.
I think if Saints had started selling season tickets a month earlier, they could have avoided and eased all this rush of expenditure for fans within one month of the season starting. I presume some fans have bought season tickets, bought friendly tickets, bought new shirts... that's a fair chunk to pay out in the course of a couple of weeks.
Difficult having Memorial Cup prior to West Brom match. The Ted Bates Trophy used to be the big preseason game not in addition to it. Lot of money to find, but I'm sure Saints fans will turn out for both.
Well friendlies never are, are they - that's why I normally don't go to them. They're very useful for players/managers but not so good for the fans. Mind you I remember I did go to the last game at the Dell against Brighton when we played in quarters, still got my plastic seat somewhere Two good sides on Saturday though, should get a good walk-up on the day depending on the good old British summer
When I bought a couple of tickets this afternoon I was told that 3500 had been sold so far. Let's hope a few more turn up on the day.
The Liebherr family are flying in on Friday for the Inaugural Markus Liebherr memorial cup competition and the opening of the Markus Liebherr lounge. This shows their continued committment and I would think Nicola is concerned that a low turn out might discourage them .
Embarassing. The price was probably set high because of cost of the tournament, but has resulted in poor attendance (coupled with it being the holiday period). Better to charge £10 and £5 and get a crowd.
When i got my ticket today, i only had a choice of either Kingsland or Northam. I don't know whether thats because they are the only stands open at the momment or whether its because the others are full (highly doubt that one)
Someone said yesterday that they were told the Itchen was full, unless they misunderstood and were told there were no seats and assumed it was full. Surely the Itchen would be used because that's where NC etc sit.
Hope this gets the support it deserves. Would be such a shame if it was a poor turn out. Trouble is Kids on school holidays & the expense of things at the moment most people are finding finances are tight.
When I went to the ticket office today I was told it was Kingsland or Northam only. I was given Kingsland Centre which suggests that they hadn't sold too many in that stand as they probably start in the centre. As I said above, I then asked how many tickets had been sold and was told only about 3500 so far.
