Basically critiscizing Cortese for the interview, saying how he should show Le Tiss and McMenemy more respect and give them a free ticket for life

That's a shame I like Jeff Stelling bit think he's totally wrong on this one and is probably only saying it because Le tis is two seats away from him. I agree with Secondstain and hope a trivial matter does not sour the future.

The way Thompson and Merson were clapping afterwards was particulalry cringeworthy, I did notice that Le Tiss didn't say anything or show any sort of emotion so it was hard to tell what he thought of it.

As much as I love the legends of the past, I think a blanket rule of no freebies is fair and correct. Otherwise where do you draw the line? Every ex-player or youth player could be entitled to a freebie.

Plus its not like Le Tiss can't afford a ticket is it?

Amazing article. Big up the Don

Cortese and Markus believed in no freebies and both bought their own season tickets (of which Markus was very proud). No reason for a wealthy man like MLT to expect to be a guest everytime he fancies a game. Remember we are all paying and we all paid Matt's wages when he was here. Don't get me wrong, Matt is a hero, but he's making a huge issue of something he should have accepted with a shrug. It was probably brought up in The Sun by a direct question to NC..he wouldn't just suddenly mention it. Remember this wasn't just about a few tickets...when Nicola took over a bankrupt club he found a group of ex-players on retainers of tens of thousands of pounds. He asked them to prove they earnt it and they couldn't.

I know that interview has been around fo a little while now, but it's the first time I've watched it. I think PFC could have done a lot worse..! I can definitely see that those guys have their feet on the ground and a big task ahead of them. They realise they can't actually promise anything.

Compared to PFC, Saints are 10 or more years down the ambition road.

Patently obvious the guys who bought Pompey have very little - if any - money to put into the club at this moment in time. The history of their banking operation in Latvia is very questionable indeed aand the banking regulators in the city of London refused their attempts at accreditation on the strength of that which they discovered.
If they had any concerns for the reputation of the club they would immediately have paid off the smaller creditors from the collapse. You are only talking about those owed up to £2000.00. Lampitt says "we haven;t got round to that issue yet"
I wouldn,t hold my breath if I was one of them.
I suspect Pompey will be a lame duck operation for many years to come.

Thought I would bump this week, things we were talking about this week in the past.

Today I have bumped this cortese thread from 2011. His saints ambition and treatment of former players. Shame the link no longer works but I think we all remember the comments

Firstly where are some of these posters now.

Secondiy whilst ambition is great it was statements like these that have led to too much expectation of saints fans today.

Selling our best players in consecutive transfer Windows meant the expectation could not be met.

Some of these guys have really **** post to like ratio's. Its almost like you didn't hadn't invented the like button back then!

*goes through thread and likes posts from people who have never had a like before*

Wow Saint_lambden that's a blast from the past... Was from the old 606 too iirc, think he's on SW now.
