It's such a shame that a rag like the Mirror doesn't like us. Coincidentally I'm sure, the Mirror's golden boy Alan Nixon seemed to take issue with Southampton/Cortese at roughly the same time.
When you have the usual Pardew slant of '3 days after a 4-0 win' and mention nothing of 'Oh but they were in the bottom 4 of league 1' then it's the usual cut and paste the facts that make your case and ignore the rest
Modern management philosophy is beyond the hacks at the mirror. When I was working it was normal for us to contract a manager for a particular project because that person had the skills needed and then when the project was completed we would employ a different manager for our next project if it was different. It is naïve to assume that because you can manage in one situation you can manage in every situation.
Comes down to whether you want your Chairman to be effective or universally loved. Cortese does what is right in his eyes for the good of the club and subsequently good for him and the Leihberrs. We all want that, don't we?
Fact is Cortese is the man. We all might not agree with his ways but we love him. If it wasn't for choices he had made we wouldn't be where we are today. - Didn't Cortese suggest to Marcus to buy the club? Right Move! - Pardew won the JPT, brought in Lambo, Cortese sacked him. Right Move! - Brought in Adkins (alot of us went who), put money into transfers but didn't overspend. Adkins got us to the premiership in 3 seasons. Right Move! - Showed clubs our ambition by buying players like Ramirez. Cortese played hardball and got his man for the price he was happy with. Adkins sacked, brought in Pochettino. Right Move! - Brought in key signings this summer, currently 4th in the table. (so far I would say a right move.) God I would hate to play his at chess.
