I think cortese is an arrogant, nasty, Vindictive sod but that's what I believe he is on a personal level which doesn't really concern me as one thing is for sure he does not fail in business! He runs a tight ship so you know where you stand. What evidence does the poster have that NC is picking the team other than some little ego tap up of an Arranged talk Le Tiss held down Botley a week or two ago. Le Tiss used to be a hero and still is in the eyes of most saints fans, he is Mr Southampton but lets remember his involvement in the take over saga was a contributing factor in our near demise. I wish MLT would stop stirring all this crap as it encourages idiotic posters such as this one to come on and comment on theory rather that actual proof and discussions on performances, transfers and so on, although I am the first to admit I have controversial views I will always back up my opinion with reasoning and they are my own rather than them of an ex saint or anyone else!

Ah, there's an imperfection. It's a similar situation when others ask a person how they are, and the person returns with... I'm good, instead of the I'm well. You are the best judge of whether you are well. Others are the best judge of whether you are good. I think that'll probably hold up in court. I'm basing this on nearly any agent, player (who has not signed) ex players, media spokes person who has ever had dealings. I will say though generally you don't get to where he is in his career as being everybody's best mate. I like cortese, I think he has been a god send for saints and it really is a breath of fresh air for our club to be run efficiently! What we do owe him is a little respect in his judgement, he hasn't hot much wrong so far has he?
1 person stirring the pot is a rumour.... Multiple differing accounts of problems arising between ex players/media etc have certainly got more substance. For instance this transfer window, if you were to see a "transfer rumour" that was 6 words long shoved at the end of the daily star would it particularly grab your attention? Yet put that same rumour in all papers with a bigger articles and it being discussed on sky sports new e.g Ramirez then you actually start wondering If it has substance?

This is what I am trying to say Jo, I'm sure his family loves him and he is a great husband/friend etc but that's not the man running our club! To me him and Marcus are/were the greatest thing to ever happen to saints fc!
A bit off topic but oh well: I don't care if Cortese is the reason we got double promotions or if it was due to Adkins, the fact is that we're in the Premier League! We invested heavily in January 2010 and were one of the best teams for the second half of that season. The season after, our squad was a fair bit better than anyone else's and Adkins just had to guide the players in the right direction and he did hence our promotion. People criticised his lack of signings but the fact is that we didn't need anyone, only one team got a higher points tally and that was due to their negative style of play and their "score a goal and keep the ball" tactics which got them a lot of 1-0 wins (a similar tactic of Reading last season). Our Championship promotion is mainly due to Adkins IMO. We did invest a fair bit of money but our squad from September was definitely not top 6 standard, yet alone top two (after our January signings it probably was top 6 standard). The reason why we got automatic promotion was because of our team spirit and unity, and Adkins has to be credited with that. In summary, I think that Cortese got us promotion from League One and Adkins got us promotion from The Championship. Let Cortese splash the cash and let Adkins manage the team, we haven't done too badly and if we're to stay up this season then I think that we need Cortese's backing in January and also to give Adkins time to adjust to the Premier League.
