I very much can hear another point of view without calling it nonsense. In particular, those which aren't nonsense. For example, I agree with saintsadam1981's comment that the TV is nice.
doesnt anybody seem to know that certain club "legends" like lawrie and le tissier were taking hundreds of thousands of ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££'s out of the club in their roles as "ambassadors" when we were in the financial ****?!?! they could have declined the money, but no, they continued to suck the lifeblood out of the club they profess to love. what an ignorant twat jeff stelling is
Good point about Jeff! he somehow thinks he's a spokesman for all of football just because he hosts a football panel show, deluded! and he has absolutely no right to belittle our club on national tv.
If his view is "nonsense" what is your view? That all ex-players should get free tickets? The only person talking nonsense is Jeff Stelling, he is an absolute legend be he is wrong on this one. Everyone should be expected to pay.
My view is that there is no harm in Le Tiss and Lawrie Mac getting free tickets, and though I'm sure they can easily afford to pay, I think Cortese is setting a pretty pointless precedent by making them do so. I never said that all ex-players should get free tickets, but we're talking about two of the most important people to ever be affiliated with the club. I don't expect them to have to pay for tickets for the same reason that I wouldn't expect Richard Branson to have to pay for a ticket on a Virgin train.
What you should compare it to is you having a job on virgin trains and giving them great service and no days off sick and going back there after you've left and expecting a free train!
Because by buying a ticket he wouldn't be paying himself. He would be paying the employees of Virgin Trains. Therefore the fact that he owns the company is pretty moot. However I will concede that it wasn't a perfect comparison.
I completely agree with Jeff. Tiss and Lawrie are two of the greatest servants we have ever had, Cortese has done a fine job but he has to look at the past on occassion it's horrible that the rest of the country will see how little respect there is from the board. Do you really think Sir Bobby Charlton pays to go to Utd games?
We are run by a prudent and ruthless chairman, we have changed the way the club is run and are aiming to become self-sufficient. For these reasons, no-one is going to get freebies. I understand and actually welcome this business-orientated running of parts of our club. Also - you cannot compare a football club to a transport company, as they are completely different beasts.
haha ...I like Cortese's stance, there are other ways to show appreciation than perks, the ex-players etc should see it as solidarity with their fans "...together as one, on the bus...etc, etc"
I do like Jeff Stelling but I think he has just made himself look like an idiot there... Can't believe Merson and Thompson were clapping at the end, the have absolutely no clue as to how well our club is run! Le Tissier looked a little embarrassed be that 'rant'...
Only if I lead them to victory in the train version of the FA Cup and get them promoted to a higher train division.
