If I had to take a complete guess, I'd say either Ramirez or Osvaldo. I reckon it'd be one of the high-reputation players who may not have been interested in Saints had it not been for Cortese.

I just find it a totally bizarre thing to even contemplate putting into a contract. Yeah, I'll sign up to work for your company - but I get to leave if my mate Ted finds another job!

I've decided that it is time to build a new world view where Cortese was a tyrant and ruined the reputation of this football club by challenging referees about nonsense and banning photographers from our South Coast Team. It now suits me to believe that Cortese wrote this into everyone's contracts due to his overwhelming ego.

How credible were the sources about this? It sounds pretty dubious.

I thought Ramirez ... especially after his agent comments about how close he is to him.

Yep, I'd say Ramirez. If I was a betting man, he'd be the one I'd place money on.

It's a little more involved than that, it more like saying " Yeah, I'll sign up to work for your company as long as the CEO (and vision that comes with him) remain the same", but i agree it's still an odd thing to ask for and it suggests Shaw's agent will probably start engineering a move pretty quick.

Maybe it was Tadanari Lee...

I expect it was Luke Shaw if anyone, especially as any team in the Premiership would probably take him. He'd have probably wanted assurances that the vision sold to him by Cortese would still be in effect in 5 years time when his contract expires.

I doubt if someone who is 18, even if he has a decent advisor, bothers with that kind of detail. Luke was and is just bloody happy to play constantly for Saints. If he had a clause for anything it was that he might have a shiny new car of choice. I would very surprised indeed if it was Shaw.

Besides. Perhaps NONE of them has a particular clause.

It makes no sense to sell Shaw now. He'll be worth slightly more in the Summer and in that time, we'll have a few months to search for a replacement. Sell him now and you'll probably have Fox play half a season as Pochettino doesn't like playing players out of position. We could even give Targett a first team spot in August if Shaw goes so we don't new to spend money on a replacement - £30m for Shaw could pay for our entire Summer budget.

JWP MUCH closer to Cortese than Shaw. In fact, I am led to believe that Luke's tweets & increasing fondness for London clubbing irritated Cortese
