Neither our owner nor our chief executive work for English football's governing body. You used to be owned by a guy who made money selling dodgy meat to hospitals, whilst on a role of continuously breaking British record transfer fees.
I don't deny it Drogs. But I wouldn't be standing on my pedestal telling you the best way to invest your money.
Come on, if one of our mob were high up in the FA aswell as working for us you lot would have a field day. You have to admit it shouldn't be allowed.
Nobody did when Dean was there or now that Gartside is. Its only because its Uniteds chairman. Hes also the nomination for our Uefa rep so hes clearly highly thought of in that part of the football world. Im sure hes professional enough to do the jobs fairly, if he was a former player then perhaps its different but hes not, hes a business man. Its quite normal I suspect in business.
They shouldn't be either, stop with the playground ****e UIR "if they can we can" it's so petulant. It shouldn't be allowed whoever it is or however professional they are, it's unsavoury.
Eh? I was just pointing out its not unusual and nobody ever said a word before so why are they now? Because its United thats why. Thats the only childish thing about it.
Because you're one of the biggest clubs on the planet ffs! More people know about it ergo making it a more controversial topic. I couldn't care less whether it's United or Stenhousemuir, it shouldn't happen - that is my point.
As Drogs said it's about popularity. Chelsea and United are 2 of the 4 most popular PL clubs. When they play it is big news. It's watched by millions of viewers and is a standout fixture in the calender, it's how Sky get their subscriptions. QPR attract interest of Thousands, United attract interest of Millions, That's the reason why nobody is talking about the horrible offside call that went against QPR or as recently as today nobody is talking about Bradford (A League 2 side) beating Wigan (A Premier League side) away from home in the cup because it's been overshadowed by Arsenal's crazy game at Reading. I thought even you'd understand something as basic and simple as this, UIR
Arsenal are a massive club as well are they not and at the time of Dein being VC of the FA the best in the country. He was also on the Premier League board and the FA's rep to Uefa. Maybe thats why Arsenal actually won something then? PNP Dien left his role as VC in 2004. In 2005 he was on the premier League board. Actually.... wouldnt a chairman have more influence in the PL by being on the PL board?
Dein left his role at Arsenal in April 2007. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/6569561.stm
Your missing the point. If a CEO of ANY club is in a high position at the FA he and therefore that organisation cannot be impartial. It's a complete conflict of interests. And at the time Dein was on the board many felt the punishment of Arsenal players for discrepancies was too lenient. All football fans ask for is a level playing field. Financially that cannot be achieved. Some clubs will always be wealthier than others but that doesn't mean they will always be better, but you'd like to think whatever the financial differences between clubs, they can play out a 90 minute game football that is reffed fairly. - It's proven fact that Rupert Murdoch was a fan of and wanted to buy United (and almost did). -It's proven fact SAF is a long time Labour Member and aided Tony Blair's political campaign in 1997 and in return Blair requested his Knighthood and Fergie regularly turned to Blair for advice and vice versa - It's a well known fact that Tony Blair would not have won the 1997 election without Rupert Murdoch (biggest media mogul) switching from Conservative to Labour and favouring Blair in "The Sun" and other NewsCorp papers. Once Blair stepped down from office, the media immediately switched back to Conservative and gave Gordon Brown pelters. I'm not suggesting anything but it doesn't take a genius to work out you have/had Ferguson directly (and indirectly) connected to two of the most powerful people in England and The World. With those connections it would be easy to make sure that a referee never reffed another game for making a huge mistake. I guarantee that if Tom Henning Ovrebo had took charge of a United v Barca semi and made that many errors he'd be hung, drawn and quartered in every paper and his career finished. As it was, the media would rather focus on the indiscipline of the Chelsea players who (understandably) lost it.
He didn't leave the role, it was scrapped and he stayed on as the Premier League representative. He was replaced in 2006 by David Gill. Current list of directors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Football_Association#Board_of_directors
