there was 2 women wearing those "niqab?" things I said nice to see people wearing masks! ..

NZ was held up early in the pandemic as the country 'who got it right'.
With only 20% jabbed they're now struggling to combat the Delta spread.
To make matters worse their economy, like Australia, will take longest to recover because of their border controls.
You can't hide away indefinitely.

Locking down for the minimum amount of cases......the world has actually gone mad..

funny that, I recall stating in the beginning after about a week everyone should stay indoors for 7 days... except emergency services ...all shops, retail including food! Virus transmits in 3 to 7 days...……..

we are now about 4 weeks into the freedom "of covid lockdown" whilst figures are less "in depth" than before 19072021 the case numbers are now beginning to rise.
TODAY REPORTS …… 170 death's [ daily average based on "rolling?" 7 days has been 93 ] ……….. 320 people in 24 hours go into hospital 6,303 in [ as of 2359hrs 16082021 ] ……. and 26,852 new cases, Tuesday. Jabs are circa 36,000 first jabs and 139,000 second last 24 hours.

the figure of deaths 131,000 has been amended to the 28 day rule … 115,000. but the official methods are 3 ways involving .........…. pre covid, ............ covid effect on flu/ other ……. 28 day test ..
.gov figures:-

The third measure counts all deaths over and above the usual number at the time of year - that figure was more than 119,000 to 6 August.
In total, there were 11,589 deaths registered in the week to 6 August, which was 12% above the five-year average.
Of the total deaths, 609 were related to coronavirus, 141 more than in the previous week.
There have now been more deaths involving Covid than "excess" deaths, which means non-Covid deaths must be below usual levels.
This could be because of a milder flu season - resulting from less travel and more social distancing - and because some people who might have died for other reasons had there been no pandemic, died of Covid.

note, just text
UK has selected its 2021 flu vaccine and is now available!

Isolation and lockdowns are costly, short-term blunt instruments and if that is your primary weapon against the disease then you will always be only a couple of weeks away from the next lockdown.

GOT MY INVITE FOR THE FLU VACCINE …. do I / don't I

Yes!!!
Because of the various lockdowns there was not much flu last year, meaning the immunity in the population is not very good
Flu is a killer (in a bad year 20-30k die). There was also a case in our hospital where someone (aged under 50 actually) got flu and it has left her with lifelong medical conditions.
Unless there is a valid medical reason not to have it - then you should
I believe that if there is a booster COVID 3rd jab then that needs to be 2 weeks apart from the flu one
In summary my advice - get both when offered!!

Because he has not got a riveting story on when he had one in the past. laugh
totally irrelevant comment, in my whole life I have had only 1 flu jab, in 2019. Never had flu and colds are a rarity. Think I had one in middle 90's lasted 3 days … didn't lose any work. In fact my last doctors note was pre 1980 … wrenched my back turning a 1 tonne plus roll of paper board.

He’ll get one, may not admit it, but he’ll get one, he was just looking for a response, not exactly a WUM, just looking for a reaction. Isn’t that right JGF? .
In 2018 it would have been a NO …. the early news of "the virus" DEC 2019 was a tipping point …. jabbed before Christmas! Flu is a covid similarity so 2021 I am almost certain to get one.... at some point.

A few weeks back the relevant council was stating " a choice of 2 to pick from " ...they have decided! is it the right one? ….. but am on the nhs trial guinea pig scheme for testing COVID variants just declined the AFRICA one!

I've never had a flu jab and never had flu. My Mrs has had flu (4 years ago) and was off for two weeks........a month after having the jab..

not everyone gets a response from "a jab" the bodies anti body generator is very efficient... but can be a bit fickle.
it can respond to an invader and maintain a defence, or neutralize the invader .. Covid is artificial cells jab! does not replicate! but a live / real invader can replicate …. there is a balance point the speed which either side replicates …. a poorbody response = alarm bells …

A large amount of people getting covid even though they've been jabbed too..

I thought I had flu back in 2019 when on holiday in Bulgaria. It got steadily worse over 2 weeks to the extent I could barely get out of bed to use the toilet before certain parts of my body started swelling.
At that point I went to hospital (The Perogov in Sofia) where I was diagnosed with Sepsis.
After major surgery and 2 weeks in isolation in the Perogov I was flown back to Brize Norton by medivac and continued my treatment in a combination of the GWH in Swindon and the John Radcliffe in Oxford before being allowed home on 1st September.
That was one bad flu…….

Not my favourite of places, passed through Sofia when out there skiing, it was run down then, which was about over 20 years ago, so not sure how much has changed....
Yes I remember you mentioning going through all that mate at the time..sounded really poorly
Good job that wasn't 2020/21 as they would have suspected Covid, panicked, triple jabbed you, made you walk around in a space suit and then locked the Country down! :emoticon-0105-wink:
