No that's pretty much what I said. More people getting it cause of the new strain, meaning less hospital space.

The vast majority of people who get it will still have little to no symptons and therefore will not need hospital. However as I just said there are more getting it so there is a larger minority who will need medical help
The Children problem is because of school and the fact that kids are ****ing morons. I did some work in a school (secondary) before xmas and the amount of them walking around without masks and hugging each other is staggering.
Solution to that would be to either shut schools (not going to happen imo), Vaccinate the u18s as soon as or School start to get tough with the kids.

As for shortages, its shortages of the Viagra vaccine which was never the govts first choice option, its difficult and expensive and was only being used as they wanted to be seen to be doing something rather than sitting on their hands.
The Oxford AZ vaccine is the one that they've been waiting for, that's the one. And since that hasn't even started to be used yet they're not going to be having shortages just yet.

April is if things go right and the only thing that can stop that is how fast the vaccine can be manufactured. I think by May to June enough people should have been vaccinated so that we start to see a return to something closer to normal.

Who's taking chances. Personally I do the mask stuff and hand washing etc, Haven't done my proper job since Feb as its heavily public interaction and have been barely anywhere since Feb last year.

My point was that the vaccine is a sign for some optimism as it will ease the need for hospitals and because its ready to go things should start to get better within the first half of the year.
Hospitals are the only reason for the tiers and lockdowns as there is nothing you can do about how deadily a virus is.

This is something I don't understand. We've lived with this for 10 months or so now, and we've seen the effects of it so there can't be more than a handful of paranoid conspiracy types who deny the seriousness of it - we are a few months away from a solution which should enable us to take control of the situation yet we still have people who lack either the self-discipline or the social responsibility to just follow the guidelines until we're over the crisis.

You are and so are the majority of sensible people, but most people can't be bothered. Civil liberties, they call it. They don't consider the civil liberties of those they might pass it on to who might not be so lucky. I work for the NHS, so I know all the rest of it
 
Cannot see April tbh as just in the vulnerable groups there over over 20 million people though hopefully by then this present wave is receding .

Edit The wife has decided to stop het physio till things get better so god knows what she will be like by then :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I Agree, April is wishful thinking. Just need to get the at risk groups And the key workers immunised asap, then work down the age groups as quickly and efficiently as possible. Once all this is done, If it’s ever totally done, there’ll be another huge issue as many other nasty diseases and accuse problems have gone unchecked. The pressure on the NHS Is going to me immense.

You'd think so wouldn't you? However, I know lots that believe it's about world domination/tracking etc. Funnily enough, majority of them usually spend their entire spare time in ther pub too.

Its the most ridiculous notion I've ever heard.

Pretty much all of them have smart phones, which are almost tracking your location all the time, then these same people post to social media where they are and where they've been. Not to mention the cookies on every website they visit.
The dumb bastards already volunteering and being tracked pretty much all the time anyway, like a micro chip in vaccine is going to add anything to that.

Then there is the arrogance that anyone really gives a **** about what any of these people get up to. Nobody cares if you went to the Big Asda or the petrol station Tescos.

And then the Bill Gates thing which makes little to no sense. Microsoft make an operating system, you visiting your Gran's isn't really going to help them with that. I can just see it now a bunch of exec's sat in a Windows meeting wondering what to do next with Windows and then one of them chirps up 'Hey Karen went to Primark this Saturday and Fred stayed at home masturbating all afternoon' like thats going to help with designing future systems (ok maybe Fred ****ing himself to death might be useful)

This is the problem with conspiracy theories - most are downright laughable and the odd one or two that may have a little plausibility rarely stand up to the application of logic.
Pandemic was planned, vaccines are going to enslave us, 5G masts are death-rays etc... - all just paranoia from people with a very tenuous grasp on reality and no concept of the scale and complexity required to make anything like this even happen - never mind keep it a secret.
The world's governments couldn't co-operate with each other long enough to organise a raffle - never mind the vast network of Bond film villainy they're accused of.
People watch too many films.

I have a co-worker (single mother of five) who has had to quantine 5 times since all this started because one of her kids or another has been exposed to someone with Covid. (Fortunately no covid passed to them though... She is high risk for multiple reasons).


Regarding vaccine. If you get Moderna sounds like most people get almost no symptoms. (I had a mildly sore arm for about a day the day after). Co-workers all had similar responses.

The Pfizer vaccine sounds rougher. My sister's hospital gave them Pfizer vaccines and she and several of her co workers felt like crap for the next day or two. (Still better than getting covid).

Our experiences seem to match trends, Pfizer reportedly has more people with side effects. If you have a choice get the Moderna based on what I've heard about side effects (and personal anecdotal evidence).

I didn't have choice, but still would have taken Pfizer if that's what my hospital offered despite side effects... I'm just happy I lucked out and got the less troublesome vaccine.
