People might as well delete the app now.

Johnson and sunak are not bothered to use it after they were required to self isolate due to the health moron getting covid 3 weeks after being appointed.

    Free for all

They've now been embarrassed into faking isolation but the damage is done imo

Yeah its very positive given we are basically doing nothing to control spread. Hopefully the trend continues when all the kids and uni types go back indoors.

Some areas are sadly lagging way behind on vaccination but I have studied a few cases last year of shocking abuse of minorities with medical research so mistrust is a fact.

The Americans are stuck with 30% ardent types who are utterly refusing everything and actively making **** up as any excuse. It's trumps I hope last gift to humanity. The culling of the republican vote. Shocking stuff.

It seems a lot of Europe has caught up as well. Which is some help.

The issue here is really its a lovely summer, everyone's happy and the usual types got their "freedom day" populist soundbites in so the natural inclination is this is over.

We have not seen an impact from nightclubs yet as well which in one way is too soon but in another is a positive given its showing downward still.

It's.going to be crucial in September. We don't want an Australia type scenario.

Reckon will be a week or so before the ‘freedom day’ cases are picked up though so will see how cases / hospital admissions looks then.

Army on the streets in Sydney.

    Full on lockdown.

Such an unbelievable waste of their opportunity to vaccinate when numbers were low.

Every Australian should hang their heads in shame. Nice hot weather, no restrictions, all very complacent and frankly their government should have to resign in shame as well.

    It sounds brilliant tbh.

But I've heard a few times, this may be because a lot of people are either deleting the app or ignoring the 'ping', including from a doctor on the radio who said the reducing cases don't match what he's seeing in the surgery and in hospitals.

There is less tests being done partially as schools closed but i suspect people aren't requesting tests as they don't want to know .

The important stat is hospitalisations and then deaths.

The amount of disruption to people compared to the perceived benefit has flipped. They are losing money now as they are being forced by the app to isolate if they live in a flat next to someone else who got pinged etc etc. Of course people will delete the APP as they are now off scot free in their minds.

the government response seems to be to try to get you vaccination passport built in.

Interesting stats here. More partying more cases. then it dops off as i assume people infect each other equally.

All it really tells me is less women go to football matches <laugh>

A report in the Telegraph saying that at least half of those in hospital with Covid contracted it after admission.

Hospital acquired infections are always pretty high even without a virulent aerosol infection being present .

    You're right.

The report was saying that it's important to get the statistics right if they are being used to deny or give people freedom. In the same way that some deaths are being recorded as from Covid when that isn't the primary cause, hospitalisations are being counted as due to Covid when in fact (according to the Telegraph) only 44% are being admitted with Covid, the rest are contracting it while in hospital.

It's all very, very confusing and frustrating.

Telegraph have an agenda as they have constantly moaned about restrictions .
The recorded deaths from Covid are skewed by the public and media demands for instant stats at the start of the pandemic leading to the headline stat based on someone dying within 28 days of a positive case which led to undercounting during first wave and overcounting later on . The real figure for deaths where Covid is the primary or contributory factor is the death certificates which take a couple of weeks before the ONS have collated them .
The only stat i've seen for covid patients in hospital is exactly that and doesn't specify where they contracted it .

its fairly abysmal performance if after 18 months the hospitals are not firmly segregated between covid and non covid.

If people were dropping of MRSA or something in the numbers we'd be shutting them down for cleaning.

I'm not entirely sure that I'm correct in this but haven't the restrictions on visitors been somewhat relaxed? At the start of the pandemic no visitors were allowed. There's at least one way that the virus could be getting in.

my local hospital was running at 50% covid cases were infected after admission before any relaxation .
mind you tbf my local hospital is pretty ****e and has been for years though there are hopes performance may pick up since it was forced to join another trust due to its low rating over such a long period .

that is basically shocking isn't it.

I know some stuff is hard to do if you have only so much in terms of diagnostics and personnel, however there's no excuse to allow that level.

However people wander in and out not knowing they have it which is they whole issue with the thing in the first place.

What it says to me is testing of staff and cleaning just isn't happening properly.

Have my bloods done on unit every three months, hospital I go to is segregated, still.

wards designated Covid wards and mixed wards for various special areas. Renal given over to Covid.

40% contract Covid in hospital or admitted and test positive while in hospital. Sure if I was struggling and needed hospital I wouldn’t have a PCR test first. Just trying to understand how people are admitted with serious issues(suspected Covid), but reported to have contracted Covid in hospital??

they are normally tested on arrival and they are treated as having contracted it in hospital if that is negative then they test positive on or after 7 days in hospital .
