The ONS provided some verified figures a while back, as any unexpected death will be subject to autopsy and so it takes time to verify the actual numbers. To August the number of directly linked deaths in the UK, was 9.

Yeah, just playing devils advocate really, as the government figures on covid deaths are just testing positive and dieing within 28 days.
I’ve often wondered if clearly unrelated deaths are included in the government figures (hit by a bus etc). That’s why I’m a lot more comfort getting the info from ONS.
