On the cusp of an incredible alzheimer's vaccine.

An Anglo-German research team believes it has potentially found a new way of halting damage caused by amyloid beta – the protein thought to be the key cause of the degenerative brain condition.

Antibody treatment could be available within 2 years, vaccine in 5 years.

That's amazing stuff. Bravo those scientists working on that. I lost my Dad to Dementia a couple of years ago, so I've been through this stuff first hand.

Saw a news piece the other day where scientists are developing a drug that can repair broken nerve tissue in the spine, it works on mice and the mice were able to learn to walk again after being paralysed. The theory is that this can work on humans and can be delivered as an injection. Revolutionary stuff

Couple of guys at work have lost parents to dementia, it's a horrible way to go. Anything that gives a chance to reduce the number of people going through that is great.

I hadn't heard of the nerve treatment but it's inspiring to see these medical break throughs.

The thing about nerve damage in the spine is that it's often the route cause of debilitating conditions in arms and legs which destroys the quality of life of sufferers. Usually dealt with, with little more than painkillers.

I was listening to Mark Carr, the main scientist involved in the research into the alzheimer's antibody at Leicester University. I was surprised to learn they are still searching for a commercial partner to develop the treatment. I think that will likely change now it's making news.

no but in the wrong hands you may end up pissing a bit of blood for a while & thats if you can even manage to piss afterwards however smoking , drinking , too much salt , being overweight and all sorts of other things do . hth

Correct......we got it wrong with health......for some reason we always deal with the after effects rather than nipping it in the bud pre need for big pharmaceutical products

you don’t know the risk of standing, phenols and styrene

All of it

Nah I ain’t having that. Let’s have some specifics. I mentioned a trial where scientists have developed a nerve regeneration drug that can repair spinal injury. What part is wishful thinking. The fact that they have done that or that it can be developed for humans ?
