oh it's a competition now, who's had the least amount of sick days, not caring so much for your patient now. Anyway, glad we could sort it over the net, with no face to face appointment, I knew you'd see sense in the end.

No competition mate, but if you're going to intimate that I'm not a grafter than you haven't got a clue. Just because I hold a different position to you, doesn't mean either of us are better than the other <doh>

You're beginning to sound like Abe mate. You'll be crying about MSM next <whistle>

Some people crying about empty supermarket shelves....ffs shop online then, like I do, no problems.

BP run out of petrol....I mean ffs who actually uses BP, seriously?

What do you think the doctor is actually going to examine. Show me your back please....you got a spot on your back, it's just a zit. I'll refer you to hospital, because I'm not superman and I don't have x-ray eyes.

And THAT is why you are not a doctor mate, and why we need face to face appointments <laugh>

Where da **** you get that from, i would run the lot over and then reverse just to be sure <laugh>

For the rest i am only going off people i personally know (my youngest is a nurse and seems to back up what i hear), i can't speak for everyone in 70ml people so wonder what gets the headlines, the thousands that things go as normal for or the odd one that get's the **** end (as has always happened).
Headlines are always made from shock news never normal life.
I'll stand behind the car and direct you just to make sure you go over every one of their nappers.

Doctors can't see inside your back mate, you need a CT Scan....a doctor won't be able to help you. I'm just trying to save you from wasting a doctors appointment.

Whatever I'm focussing on, it takes nothing away from the thousands that get treated successfully. Or that this is all about the media. It's really strange that you and brb are taking the argument there. The irony being when I was talking about the media the other day, BRB was the one accusing me of attacking the media <laugh>

But you've just contradicted yourself mate. You say you're only going off people you know personally but assume anyone who's mis-diagnosed as a result of remote appointments is "the odd one". Aren't you in the least bit interested in how many it is affecting?

Of course i am, which is why i have quoted only people i know.
what percentage of people are receiving remote diagnosis now?

Yes mate, but they can carry out a far more thorough examination face to face than online to be able to make the timely referral to a hospital in the first place.

You know, little things like visual and hands on cues, the use of equipment neither you and I familiar with, rather than a voice at the other end of the phone or a 14 inch computer screen. More chance they would refer them to a hospital rather than prescribing them a set of painkillers and eventually seeing them 3 months later when the condition is worse and referring them to a hospital then.

I really didn't want to get involved in this but one post caught my eye, so I'll just say this and then get myself to bed.

My Mother after recovering from Cancer went to the Doctors with a bad back and was told it was a trapped nerve and to take it easy. Sent her home with some painkillers and advised physiotherapy. She seen another Doctor 10 days later when it continued to get worse. The 2nd Doctor she seen told her she needed to go straight to the hospital. Her cancer had returned.

Having face to face appointments doesn't mean people will stop being misdiagnosed or that the Doctors wont miss something.

No mate, a face to face cannot see inside your back, you need a scan.

No mate, I mean are you not in the least bit interested how many people it is affecting across the country (outside of the few dozen people you know lol)

Agreed it won't stop it, but it will reduce it.

And what will decide that? A nice conversation over the phone <laugh>

They will then know what is wrong with you, if the discs are compressed/bulging it will show up.

With no disrespect to doctors, but in situations like this, unless you want a sympathetic ear, doctors are as good as useless, you need a consultant.

Anyway all I'm hearing is a lot of excuses.

Not one reason given for why we shouldn't have people being given the choice of face to face appointments. <whistle>

Also if you are really good, the nurses will play some music into your headset as they do the scan. :)

And what will decide when the GP refers them for a scan is what I'm asking mate?
