So you just decide when you want one and go get it?

That's great.

Not how it's been reported by the news of course but great all the same.

I should have told my Mum to just say when she wanted hers, instead of waiting for her appointment like everyone else in England has to.
once your priority group is reached yes unless you want to wait for your GP to get round to you .

I booked my appointment online, choose your date, timeslot and location. You don't even have to wait for your letter, if you know you are in a category being accepted.

Albeit the doctors also contacted me, to check I'd had the jab. So there is doubling up of admin between the NHS and your practitioner. I think that's because there is a time delay in computer systems passing over the data.

Are they? Fair enough, thought you paid for prescriptions in England nowadays.
me & @Peej do but not many others <laugh>

taken from a 2019 report
Well, it has to be acknowledged that the existing exemptions from charges, which currently see almost 90 per cent of items dispensed free, are problematic. Aside from children, the elderly and those on low income there’s a host of medical exemptions that make little or no sense. It equally makes no sense that all those aged 60 or over are exempt when the state pension age for both men and women will rise to 66 next year.

Yeah that’s the case now they’ve got past the vulnerable groups but you had to wait for an invite until it got beyond a certain group level - I think it was 7 but could be wrong.

I'm in some advanced group or other and received a letter with 'if you have not had your appointment please book by this source etc' but had already had it so not needed.

Are they? ... not my experience ... schoolkids and once you reach 60 yes ... if I'd had my op at 50 or before I'd have had at least 10 years paying

Still remember some years back, was always paying for my prescriptions, it wasn't until one day the pharmacist said to me, you paying for all this lot?

I was like, yeah?

She then told me about the prescription card ffs <laugh>

My missus has to take a daily 'antibiotic' erythromycin due to having had her spleen removed as a kid ... we've been paying for that ever since I met her when she was 22 and will have to for the next 11 years too ... in contrast the middle girl is at Cardiff Uni and only has to pay for any meds if she comes home to us!

Is that the 'prepayment' ? ... we do that but it was still costing a 3 figure sum per year ... only thing good about turning 60 is that we have now halved our bill .. I have to take 5 different pills every day ffs! <laugh>

because you could afford to . I have been buying an annual prepayment cert for 33 years .
you seemed to have not noticed the group which has a better call for free prescriptions than you and I

That was it annual prepayment, otherwise one chemist visit could cost you half the charge of prepayment facility.

Yes mate ... first time I went was charged something like £46 for broadly a month supply... pharmacist gave me details of the website to go on the prepayment scheme which was then something like £109 at the time, if memory serves ...

That's it, and if you get a reciept you get your £46 back for that visit as well.

Yes!!! had forgotten that ...

Changing subject for a mo, do you know if Pud is still around on GC these days?

He might go by a different name. I know he fooked off for a while after their usual scrapes, but I can't remember if he came back again.

Can't say I've seen him for a while ... but I only go on a few of the threads ... mainly just to prod the British politics mob .<whistle>..
Will keep my eyes open and let you know if he puts in an appearance... he not on any of your search tools?

Cheers Fosse. He disappeared about 3 years ago, but I thought he came back under a new username.

Last time I saw him he was renamed Pinneapple Upside Down something or other.

I was going to Glasgow, I went to a pizza place in Finnieston he'd recommended.

That name doesn't tag now though. And the pizza place is no more as it goes!
