Funny, I was having a similar conversation at work on Friday.

Back in April, when schools were closed but a few of us were still going in, literally anyone who came to speak with me would stand at the doorway and chat from a distance away, trying not to touch anything.

Gradually, and especially from when schools reopened in September, I now have 3 to 4 often sitting in the office chatting away discussing work or whatever. And that happens across the school and I am sure across all schools. And yet nobody even noticed when it happened. One main reason is because schools were considered completely exempt from everything from September 1st. Apparently all schools were a no fly zone for Covid!

I've read it was found in september also mate.
Oh it was definitely started in September, they identified it as a new strain in October but still knew nothing of it's properties.
By early December they had decided it was no deadlier than the original and would probably respond to the same vaccine. recently they have discovered the transmission rate is much higher than first thought (hence the large rise in cases down south) which has caused a change in rules.

I tell you what I fear them announcing next is that the 2 metre rule is not going to protect you. For it to be spreading as easy as it is, there has to be some other equation behind it, not discussed yet.

Yeah I understand, probably really difficult to wear a mask where people do heavy manual handling. Only good thing at least it's cold climate distribution and not a bake house.
the cold air makes it worse in a way....Masks with glasses, you can't see...Visors, you are like a slobbering St bernard. it's a lose lose situation.

I've had a meeting with the GM, actually for a top gaffer, he's pretty down to earth. They are trying everything to get a remedy, as they are **** scared.

I'd noted the date on the new name as well, which goes to prove even further, that someone knew about this longer than just last weekend.

I saw some Tory back benchers suggesting that he waited until Parliament shut for Xmas on Friday before fronting this one out, as they’d have had to vote on it & he knew there’d be opposition to Christmas restrictions.

Your glasses mate, the wire on the bridge of your nose, needs to be shaped in to it, that will help a bit to stop them fogging up.

It seems to me to be more a case that very few are observing the 2m rule anyway.

When the first lockdown happened, the mindset was it was absolutely necessary. But over time there have been so many rule changes that to try and reintroduce it in the same way is now gone, even if they wanted to.

They knew alright. I see they've got a cobra meeting tomorrow, it's squeaky pants time.

I kept away from shops, didn't go anywhere near bluewater, just done everything online this year. Thankfully my kids are all grown up, so no worries with schooling for me.

The 2M rule has never changed though.

You know why Turkey's are so expensive?

Because of the virus there is a shortage versus requirement, because millions of people go on holiday at Christmas, whereas this year they are stuck in the UK, so every fooker wants a Turkey and there aint enough to go around.

I was a bit meh about it yesterday, but the more I’ve read about it and the more I’ve thought about it I’m fuming now tbh. So many peoples plans in tatters, when they’d already spent the dosh on food and train tickets and the like.

I’m not just fuming with the dithering, self serving dickhead in No.10, but all of the absolute ****ers who’ve been flouting the rules for months and allowing the virus to get a hold again. Together with all of those in the media etc who egged them on. I think I’m going to offer that KBF **** Simon Dolan a straightener.

I haven't gone shopping. Most of it online (except the occasional trip to the supermarket and masked up)

Who enjoys shopping anyway?? Even without Covid, you'd have to pay me to line up in that queue to Bluewater. And even then I'd say fck that! <doh>

The toff farmer next door to me had an actual fox hunt today. ****ing loads of the toffee nosed horsey twats all in their red coats drinking sherry outside his gaff before cracking on with the hounds.
