So smoking and Obesity will kill another 700,000 and will cost the NHS a vast fortune in 2021. 2022 2023 on and on, with the number growing every year and the cost growing every year for the NHS

This insanity has nothing to do with saving lives, if it was cigarettes and tobacco products would be banned completely (I'd actually support such a ban)

Bad statistical future doom is killing now,

EDIT (Not true), I ****ed up, thats not US numbers I think not UK

700,000? In the UK?

Don't think that's right. Tobacco deaths approx 75,000 a year. Pretty sure obesity isn't in excess of 600,000.

But do they die of obesity or with obesity? If it’s with obesity then it’s not right to include it in the numbers and then it’s necessary to spend months making the same point on a daily basis.

Smoking death average age is 20+ years younger than COVID average death age too

Statistically, if you died from covid, you very likely lived longer than the average age of death in the UK

Ffs...I'm sure you will sleep, and stop you're ****ty little graphs and false figures soon.

Those aren't UK figures mate. Look at that graph. You honestly think 40,000 people die every year in the UK from firearms? <laugh>

Sisu has his fake news agenda. I wouldn't trust a thing he posts <ok>

I just googled UK deaths from smoking, the site was a UK site, but you might be right, I didn't really check it out.

US deaths is about half a million, so I think it could be actually US.

Marked here, my search, didn't really give it much thought, just grabbed it, its 3:25 am and its comm harrassing me :D

seems more realistic but old ref, think smoking has declined a bit in 8 years

Smoking will still kill more people in the UK this year than COVID and those smokers are far younger than the COVID deaths.
plus the last decade of a smokers life is a drain on the NHS and medical system

but no one freaks out about smoking

Setting you on the right path is me projecting? You should just say thank you and be on your way <whistle>

Having said that, fair play to you for addressing your error <ok>

The thing about these comparisons and the response we make towards them is largely due to how much we are in control of the causes. All those you've stated above with the exception of HIV, are determined by our actions. Whereas an infection is not something we can take independent steps towards minimising.

For example smoking deaths is down to the individual to stop smoking to minimise his/her own risk to health. It's not going to impact on anyone else unless they're smoking in public, and the last 25 years have seen how restrictions have been made in public places to minimise that. So in that sense we've put in place measures to reduce the risk to public health where we can. And that's what we're having to do with Covid.

I'm not a victim. As for caring<laugh>

You really know little about me, nor this whole board.

I see you as a child, trying to make a stance in the big world.. Not a bad thing. But boring.
