What an embarrassing carry on, common sense would have told anyone the computer grades were not going to work and were not going to be acceptable. Yes a U-Turn has been done, but let's face fact, it was an absolute farce. I've seen these algorithm's used in companies, it's the most unfair system going, and bears no resemblence to what it is perceived as measuring. Shame really it's taken schools to highlight this problem, if this is the future of grades and employment, then I despair.
The worst part is, that someone actually chose the parameters that drove the algorithm, without seemingly anyone either challenging it, or being listened to if they did.
A blind man on a fast horse could see that the chosen parameters were both fundamentally flawed and completely unfair on the students.
I couldn't believe Frank Spencer carried on regardless towing the line. I would have walked. One good thing with students, they are very independent minded.
It actually beggars belief that they didn't anticipate this backlash ... or is it just that they really are that arrogant that they just think that they'll try it anyway and should it go tits up simply backtrack? ...

Funny you should say that Fosse, I was wondering the same earlier. Exactly that - is it arrogance and contempt for ppl they think don't matter, or are they genuinely that incompetent? My opinion is an element of both but heavily weighted towards incompetence.
