I would surmise that a decent percentage of the excess deaths were due to the ICU's being full of coronavirus victims taking up the space on ventilators. Many other causes of death are down though, for example, road deaths are down quite a bit.

No one knows what the R rate . All references to the R rate are estimates and always come with a margin for error to the estimate .

I just watched the mini documentary, on what's going on in Brazil. It's truly heartbreaking and when I saw the digger driver, gently pushing the soil, over the rows of coffins, instead of dumping it over, I'm not ashamed to say that I cried.
