Worse really. Johnson didn’t seem to take any real grasp of the severity until March, probably because he’d not attended the first 5 Cobra meeting and went on holiday for 12 days in Feb. There was also plenty of evidence that their ‘plan’ was indeed herd immunity.
They got a scientist to crunch the numbers as to how many less infections / deaths there’d have been if we locked down earlier, and the conclusion was there’d have been 13,000 less deaths to the end of April if we’d have locked down 12 days before actually did.

afaic Covid organcs is about making $$$, and nothing I've seen or watched since I first looked into it over week ago has changed that opinion, just strengthened it.
I don’t blame the government for the mass protests in Hyde Park and elsewhere. That was inexcusable behaviour, however strongly people may have felt about the issues.
But I’m not prepared to absolve the government for their litany of failure, because a large number people acted stupidly. That’s not on the government, but plenty of other stuff is.
The biggest mass gathering was Cheltenham Races in March btw, which should never have been allowed to go ahead.
