Farmers used to bus local people in, not sure if they do that anymore. Where do the Eastern Europeans stay when they work on the farms, might be more the question I guess.

You just turned up, done the job, got paid for the amount you did. Farmers don't work by the hour, if they did it would be illegal.
Never done it but I'll take your word for it...... Most of the industries I've worked in have had working conditions that covered employee security......
personally I like to know if I can pay the bills and feed my family every month but with zero hours your one day from maybe a spiral many can't get out of financially which my main concern with this covid mess lots of people will lose property and business to the banks and vulture capitalistic scum picking the bones out of broken families losses.
