Is the Savile thing what people are using to attack Starmer? I guess that was inevitable.

Moaning that he has a title and money wasn't really going to work given he's self made.

TBF I think he’s a good leader for Labour. I never knew about the Savile stuff, I just disagree with Fosse about how he was brought to justice... he wasn’t, his corpse was.

Yes he escaped a custodial sentence ... but justice was served by due process and the victims got to see their accusations proven in a court of law <ok>

I think enough posts have been deleted for me not to understand WTF is being discussed. I like Starmer. He could even convince me to vote red for the first time. Not that it would make the slightest difference round here.

Do you really feel that’s justice?

I’d be raging that they decided to prosecute when he was dead and protected him when he was alive.

Nice one, Kier.

Same here, and yeah same in my area.

Have you mentioned this on here prior to Starmer becoming leader of the opposition?
No of course, not. I wouldn’t hold a decision he made in his old job against him. It’s great propaganda though and I’ve got a platform to get that sort of stuff to massive audiences very quickly on social media and people do lap it up. Protecting Saville will do as much damage as Corbyn being best mates with the IRA.

Your missing the point Saff... if there was no prospect of a conviction then taking it to court would have been counter productive ... to getting justice.

Stephen Lawrence's killers nearly got away with it ... if the double jeopardy rules hadn't been revoked then they might still be free today, irrespective of new evidence coming to light.

The DPP is appointed to evaluate whether a prosecution is likely to be successful. It doesn't matter whether he himself thinks an individual is guilty as sin.
