Haven't you got a tree you could be attacking with a chainsaw! Oh btw, don't worry about it falling on your house, we have every confidence in you <whistle>

no shovel atm and decided to leave tree... its a feature i suppose.

Yeah but if you set up a camera, you could film yourself going all Rambo on the tree, with the chainsaw, show us what a real man you are. Then we could all take bets on which way the tree will fall, obviously I will abstain as I'm not a betting man, but it will be enjoyable just for the amusement, go on, you know you want to flex those bulging muscles to us :)

i tried uploading a video in the past, but the files are too large.. I will post pics along the way to show my skills though.. I went in a bit further yesterday and there an enormous felled ash tree in the way...

Re-opening schools would endanger those with underlying health problems with school age kids.

My missus has had her letter and it basically advises her to isolate herself from me and the girls within our house. I should have had a letter but haven't. One of my team had a lung removed from lung cancer and is on a phased work return ... she hasn't yet had her letter despite recently having seen her consultant and being told that she would be at very high risk should she contract the virus. Such, inconsistencies re the letters don't help.

My missus is worried that they will soon lift the travel bans and that my return to work could mean be bringing it back home even if I have mild symptoms ... for her it could be fatal. Similarly, our youngest going back to a school of 2000 could mean the same.
The letters are sent out by your local surgery. So the inefficiency or decision lies with them. If you’ve not had a letter and think you should have, then call the surgery and ask.

I don’t know that you’ve got that many skills if you keep digging with a shovel instead of a spade... and keep breaking the shovels...

i have because im finding big slabs of concrete along with boulders... it really is horrific terrain out there.

If you’re getting lots of concrete and large stones loosen the ground up with a pick axe/Grubbing Mattock first before digging out with a spade or shovelling the loose ground out with a shovel.

Some UCL research has come out basically saying imperial got their modelling wrong and that school closures have a minimal effect and should have phased re-opening.

Seems to be backed by a professor at KCL and Nottingham as well.

It’s gotta be **** having to make decisions on this stuff when the information you’re presented with by experts is constantly changing and being disputed.

the story behind some of these disputes is farcical.

The imperial guy used to work at oxford, he left after accusing a woman scientist of sleeping her way to the top. She took him to court and won the case.

She is now leading the research at oxford and the two teams wont speak to each other, instead using other scientists as proxies to discredit each others research.

It's all very sad an unnecessary at a time when when decision makers in this country require clarity. Better off looking abroad and listening to the WHO for guidance tbh.

I dont have one .. i will dig my way through with a spoon if I must... not much to do now a day or 2 digging then level it all up, sow a new lawn and build something around the perimeter..

It’s definitely worth investing in one if you’re doing a big digging job, particularly if you’re dealing with a lot of concrete and rocks. Could have saved yourself some money on broken shovels :emoticon-0136-giggl

All I know it most people pay vast amounts to do this type of thing and it'll cost me for 1 shovel and some grass seeds..

I agree and I also agree with Stan's comment that you quoted about being sensible about it. The concern I have is you will have two groups of people, we shall exclude those in big houses, with big gardens for the following scenario;

Those two groups are;

1) People who follow the government guidlines, they may also have MH and physical problems.
2) People that also follow government guidelines as a whole but will go to the park. They may also have MH and physical problems.

However, you have a grey area in those two groups;

I) The first group could feel, well if the second group are allowed to go to park, why shouldn't I?
2) Some people on here have openly admitted to walking 3-6 miles in a round trip from their home as well has those we have identified that use the park.

**So the first group could rightly feel, if those people can use the park, that means I can to, because my circumstances are the same as theirs. They could also argue, I can go and see my family who live with in the same distances that are being walked, as long has when I get there, I don't go in the house and keep two metres apart.

**From what i've seen the government rules do not cover that last scenario, it's a stay at home message. Which could create a problem if everyone decides to be sensible, because who will manage the influx of people on a warm Easter weekend, that we have coming up. Because as soon has everyone wants to play the sensible scenario, the parks and/or other places will become overcrowded, like every bank holiday weekend.

I've tried to explain best I can, where I'm coming from <ok>

Yeah, people have to be trusted to make responsible decisions. Most can and will. Unfortunately, some can't and won't.

As far as the parks go, if people are using them for exercise and keeping 6 feet apart, I don't really see the problem. The parks in Haringey now have markers at the entrances and on the paths showing you what 6 feet apart looks like. I suppose next weekend will be a big test, but then on the other hand every day is like Sunday now anyway, so maybe not. There are police patrolling the parks, but there just aren't enough of them.

As for visiting relatives or friends, the instructions are clear. Don't do it.

A friend of mine works for a homeless charity in the West End. There are still plenty of rough sleepers in London, despite the government instructing councils to find them all beds. Most of those people have quite severe MH or addiction problems. God knows what happens to them if they get sick; actually, we do know what happens to them. They die.

I agree.

In someways I wished it was pissing down, at least then we could be smug about the weather. But this is going to be the one Easter weekend where the weather sticks two fingers up at us all, while the sunshine blazes down laughing!
