not sure he ever stopped . Dread to think of the state he is going to be in before this has passed (for this year anyway ) .

I'm fine. Going out for a cycle ride around the local nature reserve, later. Then off to do some shopping.

I feel a lot better than I have done, over the last few days.

Bad news,
I'm working through the details on how this will be done and it's for working age people only
makes sense tbh as they're the ones taking the immediate hit . Feels a bit weird for me to be in my late 50's but as i'm medically retired this is having no immediate financial impact on me (or on people in similar situations) bar my shares losing a stack but that is to my mind money i am gambling with so c'est la vie .

Hopefully there’s more to it than that. Bit terrifying if not.

To be fair its less likely for those young to get seriously ill, but that doesn't mean 100%. A lot of kids and young adults will die, just relatively less compared to those over a certain age.

Trump is saying he wants to reopen the nation for business soon, even if it means more coronavirus infections.

“You’re going to have suicides by the thousands” Trump said at a Fox News town hall. “People get tremendous anxiety and depression, and you have suicides over things like this when you have terrible economies. You have death. Probably and — I mean, definitely — would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that we’re talking about with regard to the virus.”

Not much compassion on show there, no surprise from Trump really. Although it is disguised as compassion <laugh>

It does touch on a very real side effect we are going to have though. The last financial crisis lead to over 10,000 extra suicides across Europe and the US and this has the potential to be a lot worse depending on how things progress. There’s also all the figures relating to people dying while waiting for benefits which will rear its head again as the system becomes overloaded.

Add in that the effects on mental health will be far worse this time around due to isolation and loneliness, high levels of anxiety, an inability to provide mental health services due to banned gatherings. And the effects this will have on addiction and general pressures across all services.

There is likely to be huge health implications that aren’t directly caused by the virus but a product of the economic knock on and social distancing measures.

Which is why I understand governments are trying to minimise the effect it’s having on businesses functioning while balancing this with the need to protect people from the virus. It’s a difficult balancing act which I’m sure no-one will get completely right.

Trump's only concerned about the stock market. He couldn't give a flying **** about people committing suicide.

Yeah I know, that’s why I said he was trying to disguise his comments as being compassionate!

The other bit of my post was more just general commentary rather than related to trump.
