The ridiculous element of that, is that you’ve not been tested, so you’ve no idea if you had it or not. You might have just had a seasonal cold / flu virus and not COVID-19.

I’ve no idea why they’ve decided to not test people outside of hospital. As if you have had it, and it was confirmed, then you could just crack on now, but given you haven’t had it confirmed, you can’t. It’s bonkers.

I'm in that boat now, don't know if I had it, if anyone I came into contact with had it. Her dad has it, though so far mild symptoms. She visited them after they came back from Spain where he got infected, with the kids. So we could all have it. Cant get tested, Finland ran out of tests rapidly, waiting for more.

So its kinda like the Walking Dead around my place, just missing the odd zombie. It's weird, I'm in the shop and its on my mind every second, and everyone else's too. Never experienced anything like it.

Is there nothing in place to push you up the queue?

There should be, most people can get to the shop themselves and ****ing well should do.
well officially there is but i cannot find anything on their websites telling you how to access it . The rumour was Sainsburys are doing it via your Nectar card based on your age but that excludes me and other younger "vulnerable" people though i'm more worried about giving the virus to the wife .

Yeah true.
All I can say is I had a respiratory illness that was unlike any other I have had before, but whether or not it was Covid 19, we will never be 100% sure, because they wont test everyone who develops symptoms.
All I will say is that it wasn't the flu and it wasn't a chest infection, at least not like one I have had before, I have had both and this seemed different.

As with most of the measures this government has taken since the outbreak, today's financial package was made too late.

The minute the antibody test becomes available you need to be all over it. As if they can confirm both you and your family have had it, then you’re free of worry.

Do we know yet if we get immunity after an infection? I read somewhere yesterday some tests on monkeys showed they couldnt be reinfected

I wish I could reveal some of the stuff I’ve seen over the last few days from the nhs. I could contribute so much more to this thread if it wasn’t a massive breach of confidence!!

Appreciate that’s not helpful to anyone but it’s so annoying having information I can’t share!! Especially because as I’m sure you’ve all realised I love showing that I know more than people on practically any subject I can <laugh>

PM me bru x

last i heard was it was assumed we couldn't but not 100% as some ( iirc at least 3) have re tested as positive .

There is a lot of doubt about reinfection for those. More likely they were tested too soon and it was the original infection.

It's not like the flu in that sense, which is highly unstable in terms of genetic mutation and developing new strains. Whereas Covid 19 is much more stable.

Viral infections are only beaten by the body’s own immune system and the antibodies produced. So if you’ve seen it off, there should be little chance of a reinfection that made you ill, as you’ll always have the antibodies that recognise it and see it off.

The caveat being if the virus can significantly mutate.

Good or bad?

Just spoke to my sister who works at a private hospital. NHS have nicked their three spare ventilators and she is expecting that they will be used to pick up the strain of non-corona cases.
