Ireland is shutting its schools for 2 weeks. Seems inevitable that the UK will follow suit. Kids will be delighted.

Government in the UK has responded quicker than where I live, that's for sure. As the WHO chief said, what's more worrying than the Coronavirus is the lack of action from governments, who seems like they can't be bothered.

I joke and get involved with all the banter, but my girlfriend would get seriously sick from this kinda thing, and we still haven't even heard from the Norwegian prime minister on this outbreak. A friend of mine just flew to Oslo airport and wasn't screened, the schools are still open, depending on region you either walk to the doctors and are told to avoid a bus, or they come to your house, the schools are all open. It's been a complete non response.

I work in the food industry, I have absolutely no idea what the policy is on Corona, as a manager I called the Norwegian health authorities myself, TWICE as I had two staff members returning from infected countries. I requested advice, what is the policy, do we stop them attending work is that even legal to cancel their shifts because they MAY get sick? No idea, as per usual here the government worker seemed more annoyed they had to answer the phone.

I think the prime minister is due to speak in 50 minutes (the first time I've seen her ever speak on the news, as the government here do absolutely NOTHING), so we will see what they say.

But you guys back home should count your blessings, at least they are responsible. As I said on another thread, if I drive a car after dark with no hi visibility jacket, they'll be on me in 15 seconds to give me a £800 fine. But if I call them and ask them questions regarding the well being of my staff and customers, I'm told to go away and stop bothering them. ****ing pricks here I tell you.

Edit: If anyone is worried about the staff members, they were both quarantined by their doctor after getting sick, and they're getting paid by us for their shifts.

Yawn

As a self employed man it is a bit of a worry.

I think we will get statutory sick pay which is **** all.

If we have to be off work then I'll have to right off the money as money I would have lost on annual leave.

Amazon delivers so quickly and the virus survives up to 9 days on surfaces

Contamination of an Amazon warehouse could be the biggest super spreader ever

Good job Amazon respects workers' rights and pays a living wage so ill people aren't compelled to still go in...

Amazon have announced you only get paid sick leave if you have a positive Covid-19 test, but tests are already massively restricted and cost $1000 - $3000

They've also increased working hours to make up for missing staff
