These anti-bacterial hand wash things are completely ineffective in fighting off a virus, right?

I think they need to be at least 60% alcohol.

So basically the hand sanitiser stuff works, but all the liquid soap stuff isn't really that effective.

Heard some medical bod on the radio saying alcohol based sanitiser is effective but can be counter productive because it also kills bacteria which help fight viruses.

I actually heard somebody talking about this today. You can buy piss cheap vodka in Aldi etc that probably works out cheaper than hand sanitiser <laugh>
Standard vodka is only 40% proof, so it’s not effective, as the alcohol content needs to be 60%.

The more this virus develops and it’s becoming increasingly obvious that fatalities will largely likely be restricted to the elderly and those with underlying health issues, such as immune suppression. The more I worry that the ‘others’ that fall into these categories will be seen as acceptable collateral damage by the general populous. Who’ll then stop the conscious hand washing and self isolation that’ll restrict the spread, as it won’t be them that snuff it, it’ll be ‘others’.

Comments like the one from Le Tissier today simply aren’t helpful imo.

I was listening to a phone in on the radio on the way home. A woman phoned up and asked "I'm worried. My friends and I often share make-up when we meet up. What should I do?"

I kid you not <doh>
Just let natural selection take its evolutionary course
