I was only thinking earlier this morning when I saw discussion on this topic, of how impressed I was with a teacher in Hong Kong who held a virtual classroom. For me the winners in this are the ones that tell us what they can do for our children, rather than making excuses where the kids become pawns in a political game. Education is important for children even before they go to school, it's about how you make that play fun for them, while applying that discreet quality of education. This builds confidence and the foundations to make life easier for young ones. Education at this difficult time should be at the forefront of everyone's mind, not a by-product of it.

    Sorry . That’s just blatant stupidity .

Having Frail and Elderly patient’s pass away whilst under your care is one tragic thing .

    BUT

    Losing them ?

no excuse for that FFS :steam:

What’s that got to do with anything. Stop changing the subject every time. I’ve acknowledged that the end death column will probably be higher than suggested but I don’t think it’s as high as you’ll try and make out. Why won’t you acknowledge that there’s deaths going down as Covid-19 when they shouldn’t be?

To be fair I don't think Sturgeon is the kind if politician who tries to sugar coat stuff. Those goons in Westminster definitely are.

Sounds good but the problem for us is resources. No chance our schools will have enough books to give to every child. Most schools share class sets across the school. We've piloted the whatsapp method with one class. Teacher almost had a breakdown within a couple of weeks. It was only one subject - English. The volume of pages you get back, and the disorganised manner in which you get them made it very difficult. Emails full of parent photos (about 5-6 pages - each photo is a separate page to print off) for 30 kids you can imagine trying to get through that, quality of pictures with parents chopping bits off and then trying to mark all that and feedback. Then you have to send the next lot out. And that was just one subject and one lesson.

I'm talking primary education btw. We're trying to think of something similar but more practical where a single activity can incorporate maths and English and even science or humanities e.g. cooking includes maths (measures, ratio etc) and English (,instruction writing) or building most effective mini-parachutes (once again maths, English but science e.g. materials, friction) Assess it through a mix of write ups but parents also just taking photos of them completing the activity.

As well as can be expected.
