It's not a competition <whistle>

It’s not though we’d be losing heavily if it was. I find the testing numbers interesting when we either can’t or won’t test to a third of Ireland’s level. We are ahead of France and I doubt it’s a huge coincidence we’re both struggling far more than most.

It’s not a competition. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered someone like you in real life. If I had done I’d have assumed they were mimicking a Fast Show character.
I know that, that is why i am so amazed that some try to make it so by comparing one countries statistics to others.

We are all different with different climates and lifestyles etc so there is no comparison to be had.

We started this thing with a similar number of ICU beds per head as Ireland. Same climate and lifestyle. Different strategies and different results.

Not sure why we are 4th in that table either <laugh> Folk are desperate to try and make this look as bad as possible for the UK government. China will have had way more deaths than the UK, probably Iran, too. We have no idea how accurate all the other countries are too.

Beijing locked down Wuhan emphatically and quickly in the grand scheme of things ... we didn't react anywhere near as quickly ... doubts about China's figures are rooted in xenophobia...

South Korea and Germany have set the bar on how to deal with this ... we need to accept that our response was slow, ponderous and lacking in cohesion ... the US even worse and Trump is now reaping the consequences ... over 620,000 confirmed cases and close to 28,000 deaths and rising ...

Yeah, our climate and lifestyle is massively different to Germany.

When people take the time and patience to converse with you there really should be a Gift Aid option.

You've missed the point. As has @Diego sadly. It doesn't really matter whether we're 4th or 5th or even 6th. It doesn't even matter if Iran and China are on the same numbers. The fact is we're in a group with numbers of deaths which is disproportionately higher than the rest of the world. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

What's desperate is that people's only argument is to try to muddy the data rather than accept we shouldn't be anywhere near that group <ok>
Only if you are prepared to accept others reporting without exception.

That is a shocking statement mate. I' surprised you find this all so trivial.

Just out of interest explain what difference there is in terms of climates and lifestyles between us and Germany?

Or between France and Germany?

At last, the point <ok>

That's why i stuck the "etc" bit in, i am not going into a full list of things such as idiots refusing to follow instructions/guidelines, obesity, general diet, smoking, alcohol or drug abuse.

and New Zealand <ok>

Other countries' governments responded better than us. We should hold the same standards for our own government. But apparently what we should be doing instead is questioning every country's figures. Utter madness <laugh>

Some care homes are seeing 20% or more resident fatalities since lockdown ... anyone thinking that just reflects the norm is in cloud cuckoo land quite frankly ... this virus is catastrophic to the elderly, it shuts down the lungs...
