It’s an amazing effort from them and the bloke who does all the work. Forgotten his name now. He’s up against a legal team with essentially unlimited funds. Another £200k of taxpayers’ money spunked on this I believe.
Jolyon Maugham.

The bloke is a legend tbh.

And they still keep coming.

In plain sight this ****, it’s almost as if they think they’re now above the law, and can do as they like.

Bit harsh on the Asda workers. That’s the issue with KPI that include agency staff lumped together.

my company have been investigated/being investigated for furlough cash as they paid share dividend and management bonus. Also have had to cover short paid staff for hours worked outside of reduced contracted hours(full pay)

be interesting to see what they have to pay back.

Only they didn’t set any parameters around annual profits did they? Bit of an oversight like.

Yanks are like a bigger version of UK mate, thick population who refuse to follow rules.

The number is just incredible. Fck knows how many must be infected. Even if the new adminstration tries to put the brakes on it, I can see another 100k dying during the process.

I mean, half a million people dead. I still can't get my head round it tbh.

Not really kept up with other countries but early on Brazil were in a shocking state, wouldn't surprise me if they have reached half a mil.

But we still have planks who think it's some kind of con or control mechanism <doh>

I don't know why the media keep pushing the discussion on foreign travel and passports.

I get the holiday industry are desperate for restrictions to be lifted, but I just can't see it happening anytime soon for travelling abroad.

The media constantly bang on about vaccine passports, but other than saying you've had the vaccine, they serve absolutely no purpose in you being able to go to another European country, as way of example, when their citizens haven't been vaccinated anywhere near the numbers of our own.

It really don't matter what our government might want, or more so what the media want, if France, Spain and Portugal say no, that's it, end of debate. We just seem to be constantly going round in circles with this, I just don't get what the media don't understand about it.

Unless you stick a load of Brits in a Spanish complex serving themselves and closed off to all locals. I suppose Benidorm might just pass for that. :bandit:

It's no different to 120k dead in the UK with a population of 70M mate.

What's the US population, around 330M?

Per capita our death rate is worse. I’d guess the US has a slightly younger population. Their life expectancy is relatively poor, probably because they’re all knee-deep in Taco Bell and Arby’s.

About 1 in every 550 people in the UK have died from/with Covid-19.

Yeh that's the population. And I know what you mean, I just find that amount of loss of life and all the families affected as mindnumbing.

It's the sad reality of it all mate.

Take now, tomorrow, we are going to start the gradual process of lifting restrictions, that means we have fallen into what is deemed as an acceptable death rate versus the consequences of keeping us locked down.

I saw on the news earlier where a 51 year old with no pre-existing medical condition, died of covid. That will now be deemed acceptable to open the economy back up, as plans will be in place to vaccinate all adults by July ish.

Born to die, that's the cold reality of life. I don't think I saw anything that brought that home more than the refrigerated lorry units parked up outside hospitals in America, because the hospital morgues were full.

My old man and his Mrs have just tested positive for COVID today. Both had the Pfizer vaccine about a month ago. My Dad isn’t showing any symptoms yet, but stepmum is really quite poorly. Still at home, and hopefully she’ll fight it off without the need for hospitalisation, but shows there’s still significant risk.

Thanks mate, she’s a fair bit younger than him at 71, and having had one dose of the vaccine I’m hoping that should protect her from the worst of the disease. But she’s got all the symptoms, the raking cough, can’t taste or smell anything etc.

Well the reason they have pushed the vaccine through is because it reduces the risk of being critically ill

Fingers crossed she has the strength and will to fight it off

Hopefully that will be as bad as it gets and she soon pulls through .
