Some hint of a plan would be nice. We gonna stay indoors forever now then or what?

****ing hell, if Boris has one positive attribute, it’s relentless optimism. Where the **** has that gone?

I’ll cut him some slack here tbh. As he’s apparently adamant this will be the last lockdown, so this time they have to get it right and then relax the restrictions when the numbers say it’s the right time. So it’s a case of get the first 4 tiers vaccinated and then see what the numbers are like at that point.

Albeit having been out in the car a couple of times for medical appts, it doesn’t look much like a lockdown to me anyway tbh. Companies have found work arounds with click and collect etc and it seems that the list of essential services now includes virtually everything including domestic cleaners ffs.

Yeah, I’m not convinced this will be the last lockdown, or that the virus is ever going away completely.

As for people being out and about, loads of people really don’t have much choice about that. They have bills to pay and not everyone is covered by furlough.

Numbers on public transport are way down, businesses are closed, schools are closed; I think people have to know that their sacrifice is going to be worthwhile, and like I say, I’m not hearing a plan.

The virus will likely become endemic mate, with mutations like the flu that make an annual vaccination advisable for a decent segment of the populous. So at some point we’re just going to have to live with it, but when we’ve got ourselves into a position where the hospitals aren’t going to be overrun with it and we’re not losing 1,000+ per day because of it.

With any luck it'll just disappear.....just like the flu seems to have done this year.

Both my parents now vaccinated. Not sure if Matt Hancock was speaking from experience or whether he'd talked to a real human, but he's right, that sense of reassurance and relief when your nearest and dearest get vaccinated is incredible. I didn't realise how much until after it was done.

12 weeks to the 2nd dose. Let's hope the fckers know what they're doing eh.

Well yeah, quite possibly, and that’s very much the sort of coherent, joined up message I was hoping to hear from the Prime Minister.

He’s so far out of his depth it’s ****ing embarrassing.

Yeah I get that, and I’m acutely conscious that it’s not me who’s been forced onto UC because of lack of furlough or redundancy, or SSP if told to isolate, whilst trying to keep a roof over my families head and food on the table. Plenty have had this ****ing tough and that exacerbates the need to make sure this is the last lockdown.

Not sure how many people have the new variant, I don't pay such close attention to the grim daily death rate and the increase this may have caused/impact on the R rate as I should.

Did you get a letter from NHS England in the last week or two? I’ve never been offered a flu jab before, then this January a letter arrives inviting me to book an appointment for one. I haven’t responded yet, been meaning to ring my GPs surgery to ask them if they think it’s worth it. They might be a bit busy though.

think i've said this before but in the summer met someone i'd worked with years ago and it turned out we had both retired round the same time . We both said we felt almost guilty as we were both financially secure , as we had decent pensions and no mortgage , so we could afford to "play safe" .

cheers pal. Sorry if that initial post sounded like a rant. **** week at work and didn’t read it through. But it is honest, Mrs tells me the death rates and I will only watch updates that have some impact on me. Struggling a bit with the social isolation (from others) now and getting nervous again because of new strain impact it may have on me (but selfish) as already survived two weeks isolation FB with the Mrs as she had it.
