Wont somebody please think about his yacht crew!

Oh hang on, it’s sound, he used to pay his Mrs the dividends one topped £1BN iirc. Phew, he’ll be fine.

EDIT: would anyone be even slightly surprised if it turned out there was a huge hole in Arcadia’s pension provision? Big Phil better start hiding his cash, as I’d wager there’s a large personal bill heading his way at some point.

Bloke’s an utter prick, his staff will end up with **** all and he’ll fire up his companies online with the money he siphons off in the meantime.

I can see him having to stump up again to fill a pension void. Man is a massive ****. Reports are he was trying for a loan to prop up parts, if he didn’t have anything to cover the prick would have just called in administrators.

mike Ashley will own 100% of high street soon.

So are Acadia suggesting that the same customers that go into shops, don't shop online?

Or is this a case of Green just dumping off all his properties, overheads and High Street employees, while raking it in with online sales, probably under another name.

    Opportunism maybe?

Probably a way of knocking his creditors and his staff, while shifting most of his business online, yes.

And as PJs said, I hope the appropriate authorities are keeping a close eye on any pension fund he may be responsible for.

It’s lined up for Ashley to swoop in. If you are selling retail outlets then someone would be daft to not also include online shops under top man etc. Some of this stuff is online only I think now within Arcadia.

I hope he rots the horrible ****.

I agree. Ah those forever disappearing pension pots. I think if anyone has made good business out of the virus it will be online retailers and supermarkets. My spending habits haven't changed at all, other than moving to online purchasing, ok people might tighten their budget but at Christmas, most people will go mad as usual. The only downside of online shopping is the delivery charges, especially when selecting from various retailers, however, that's been an accepted nature of the beast before covid. The only retailers at a loss will be those that are not online, which I can't see being the Arcadia group of stores.

Christmas spend in my industry has been really good so far. Could be people panicking in case they can’t shop in December but everyone still has to fight their way through the crowds to buy veg in those last few days so will inevitably pick up other bits too.

There were already suggestions that the pension pot was well short. I’ve seen figures bandied around of circa £700m.

The business couldn’t pay its rents, he’s been in dispute with landlords throughout. As far as I’m aware he’s also completely refused to cover any shortfalls with a cash injection of his own. He’s basically allowed it to sink, and the landlords will force it into receivership.

Literally cost him his career his barmy stance on CV. So I suppose he’s already ‘all in’.

Think he’s doing something similar for one of the foreign networks so I’m sure he’ll be fine. Bet Keys and Gray are raking it in from Qatar or wherever they ended up.
