Just took my mum to ED. Had symptoms for 8/9 days but tested negative last weekend. Been breathless for past few days and 111 advised her go up there.

Fingers crossed its a nasty cold, that you are on the way home with her soon pal.

So we will have a se ond lockdown to "save xmas" ... then they'll reopen the pubs with the slogan of "have a beer to save the new year" ... and round znd round we'll go again.

Thank **** my daughter moved back home last weekend. Her job might be ****ed but at least she's safe and we can feed her.

I genuinely feel for those in a less fortunate position. Not seeing my uni kid for 3 months and worrying about her was very difficult...but some have had and will have it a **** load worse.

Hope everyone here stays safe and keeps their jobs.

There has been mounting evidence that hospitals resorting to veltilators too early has harmed and killed people in the first months of the outbreak.

As many people are not dying as before the summer, because they are being treated differently.
Now more recover and recover quicker

If I ever got this, I'd demand I am not sedated and that I get Oxygen at the most, and I'll fight my own battle. **** that being out cold with a machine doing my breathing for me, no wonder so many bodies just quit.

It's bad news but with a positive element. More people are recovering than before because they're treating it better.

and I can only speak for myself on the ventilator issue, and there were doctors saying this back at the start of the year that they thought the ventilators were doing more damage to lungs than the virus, especially with patients that had blood clotting in the vessels that being air from the lungs.

Having been a smoker for 30 years, I got very used to bringing up **** in my lungs, with coughing (******ed yes, I was) so I'd rather be awake.

Any long term smoker with bad lungs will understand what I am about to say

When I slept as a long time smoker, my lungs would fill up with mucus at night, and when you wake up, you have this round of deep hard coughing that brings it all up, it was the same every fkn morning.

Same can be said for being unconscious from sedation, on a ventilator, with a lung infection, my lungs would fill up, making it harder to breathe, and the pressure from the ventilator would be inflating lungs filled with mucus, that cannot be good

I see them turning over sedated people to relieve pressure on the lungs, turning them face down, I had to sleep face down by the end of my smoking habit a couple of years ago, because I could bring up poxy mucus that way.

So I have very good reasons for not wanting to be on a ventilator and sedated if I get the coof and get pretty ill.

I'll take my changes thanks, if I pass out from low O2, then they can try the ventilator

All the best to your Mum...haven’t seen mine for months n months properly, the odd social distance meet...just phone chats mainly...it’s not the same but it’s how it is as we all know.

A second coronavirus lockdown would be a "government failure - not an act of god", Sir Keir Starmer has said.

The drastic action could take an "immense toll on people's physical and mental health and on the economy", the Labour leader warned.

And he was absolutely right, yet again.

But now is not the time to reflect on Keir Starmer calling it right. This is the time to reflect on the absolute steaming heap of dogshit our elected government has made of every single decision they've been faced with, from day one. We are privileged to witness world class ineptitude from Bozo the clown shoe wearing ****, and his cabal of Public School pisswits.

Cheers Slurps (and PJ/Solid).

They're not worried about covid but are concerned she has a blood clot on lung. On blood thinners and gotta stay in for a CT.

I'm just glad that she went up there.

I agree massive mistakes have been made but it is very easy for Starmer to sit there saying you should do this, you should do that, with zero culpability.

How do you know 'he's right'?

The whole of Europe is in the same situation and is literally making it up as they go along, no one knows what's actually right, clearly.

What Starmer should be doing is collaborating in this situation. He's coming across as a right ****, to be absolutely honest.

As is Johnson of course.

Like you say, it's always easy as the opposition to say, you should be doing this. Maybe if BOTH parties stopped playing politics over this, we might get through it a tad easier. Also not suggesting it's not a massive fook up by Boris because it is, the twat. The problem in this country, we can't take the politics out of anything, everyone wants to try and point score.

How is he supposed to collaborate?
He's saying that we should be doing what the scientists are saying and Boris disagrees.
Where's the middle ground on that? Should he just shut up and agree with the government?

Not sitting there scoring political points that he can't be held accountable for in any shape or form while the country is in meltdown would be a start.

What's this Boris, Trick or Treat ffs. As some Halloween treat in an attempt to be a saviour of Christmas Day, it's one day ffs, the Trick part is you catch covid otherwise. <laugh>

Is it ****.

I find it completely bemusing the amount of you who think this is a political situation. It's not, it's a worldwide pandemic that the whole world is trying to get a grip with, and largely failing.

It's heartening to know labour would have had it all sorted though. Next election, I'll take that into consideration.

Could you have retrospectively sorted out a world wide pandemic? Tick.
